0.5 l fliptop bottle Doggythedog shared with me, so thanks! 4,5% ABV. BB date is tomorrow, so let’s see. Poured nice murky brown body with bigger ocher head. Very nice coffee and caramel aroma with some wood (may be nuts) and a bit of cocoa. Flavor wasn’t unfortunately so nice, caramel and coffee malt based, bit watery with odd sourness which only partially comes from unpasteurized hops. Shorter finish in that sourish way. Fine enough, but it’s surely better fresh and I’ll definitely rerate it once at the brewpub.

From keg @7 Stern Bräu, Wien. Clear dark brown. Medium tanned head. Bready, light caramel-scented aroma. Notes of grassy hops. Gently sweet, toasted, bready and caramelly malt flavor, nicly balanced by a firm bitterness. Soft and creamy in the mouth. Bitter-sweet ending. A pretty good Dunkel.

Draught at the brewpub, small creamy off white head, hazy brown with lots of red hues, light roasted malt aroma with hints of dark chocolate, flavour of lghjt roasted malt with some dark fruits and some chocolate, light pleasant bitterness and a suprisingly strong sourness. Light bodied. Nice and quaffable but a little too light.

Tap at the brewpub, Vienna. Pours cola brown with a big, laced, light tan head. Some dark malts, toffee, and mild diacetyl in the aroma. Decent flavor, some burnt toast, light caramel, mild wood. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Pretty crisp to finish, some dark and toasty malts, faint cocoa and burnt wood. Nice, if a bit mild overall.

bottle, thank you very much, cuso! Prague Dunkel from Vienna, sent to Germany from Slovakia - that’s what I call globalisation! Deep brown colour, large beige head. Malty, hints of caramel and raisisns, dry cocoa powder, shy hoppy finish. Delicious.

Koelschtrinker (7034) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - MAY 5, 2011
Cremig dunkelmalziger Antrunk in Richtung Schokolade gehend, leicht röstig. Test vom 10.8.2008, Gebinde: Fass Noten: 11,11,11,12,-,11
