0.5l from the brewpub. Clear orange-golden body. Medium white head. Grainy sweetish nose, bit woody, cookies, light salt, very light alcohol. Sweetish pleasant cookie maltiness, light herbal hopiness, light fruity, tiny bit alcoholly, light creamy. A nice bock.

Draft @ the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy dark golden/pale amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity sweetish malty molasses and caramel aroma. Sweetish malty spic caramel flavor with hints of dark fruit. Has a sweetish malty spicy caramel finish.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours hazy orange with an off-white, creamy and dense head. Aroma is sweet caramelish, roasted and malty breadish. Sweet caramelish and roasted malty, light breadish and caramelish. Good bitterness to balance the sweet malty.

Bottle. Pours amber with a dense off-white head. Nose of caramel malt, stonefruits - apricot and peachy notes. The flavour is bread, caramel and stonefruit sweetness. A lemon menthol character shows through as well. Sourish finish. Probably lost some of its freshness in the bottle.

Tried this vom fass at 7Stern and in 500ml swingtop bottle. Hazy copper orange colour with creamy tanned head. Sweet aroma with hints of apricots and caramel. The sweetness and caramel carry through to the flavour with hints of lemon from the spicy hops. A pleasant bock but nothing to special.

On tap at the brewpub: Copper orange colour with an off-white head. Sweet, spicy gingerbread and cinnamon in the aroma, sort of a Munich-type maltiness. The flavour is very sweet, caramelly and malty with notes of lemon and spicy hops, but unfortunately rather one-dimensional. Medium to full bodied with not enough bitterness to balance the sweetness, hence a bit cloying. Unsatisfying Bock.

1 l fliptop bottle, bought at the brewpub.
Nice cloudy-hazy brown body with a creamy tan head. Aroma of fine toasted malts and caramel, mild vanilla and spicy cookies, some hop. Medium bodied one with a smooth mouthfeel, nice toasted caramel and malt in the flavor with spicies and mild hop in the finish. A little unmatured character opens at the end on the palate...

Had it on tap at 7 stern. I just don´t like weihnachts biers very much, I suppose. I found it to be a kind of sweet bock with lots of almondy malts... good, but just not something worth writing home about.

UPDATED: MAR 7, 2008 300m vom Fass at the brewpub in Vienna, and a 500ml swingtop bottle (bb.31.12.07) brought home to Tromsø and enjoyed as a partner to late lunch on Boxing day. Slightly unclear, amber body with a thin, lasting head. Aroma is sweet milky and malty. The dominant flavours are puddingy almond supported by vanilla, butter, and light caramel. Dry hopped ending. Rounded palate (02.12 and 26.12.2007).

Stupendously huge, very fine & dense yellow head; hazy yellow-amber beer. Almonds, waffles with syrup, vanilla, quite sweet smelling, spicy bread. BItterish-lined cake, orange, orange peel. Sweet impression, but overwhelmed by the bitterish(even hoppy)-fruity flavours. This is great and perfect balance. Nutmeg & cinnamon retronasal. Well bodied, slick, but without any viscosity. Excellent Bock! Thank you very much for following my instructions, Dean!! ;^}
