A blond, unfiltered lager with a predominantly hoppy aroma and with noble old world hops from Saaz. Dry and refreshing "Wiener Helles" resembles German Pilsners. This creation by our Slovak Head Brewer Vlado Sedmak is one of the most popular beers at 7Stern Bräu.

Draught, 4.7% at the brewpub. Good bready aroma, citric aroma hops. Cloudy dark yellow colour. Stable plasticky white head, giving the frothy mouthfeel I do not particularly like. The flavour is OK bready. Medium bitterness, rough in an OK way. Hint of soft fruit in the finish.

On tap at the brewpub. Golden in colour with a big, foamy white head. Aroma of hay, bready malts and a hint of yeastiness. Flavour had savoury, grainy malt, with a herbal edge and some grassy hops. Drinkable.

on tap @ 7 Stern Brau, Vienna. Pours light pale yellow with a slightly floral, herbal, sweet aroma. Taste is dry, floral & malty sweet. Creamy mouthfeel.Nice saaz driven bitterness. One of the better helles I had over there.

Tap @ the brewpub, Vienna. Pours hazy orange with a nice big white creamy head. Almost no aroma - a bit flowery hops and butter. Flavour is flowery hops with butter/toffee. Mouthfeel is creamy and full.

On draught at the brewpub: golden, firm lacy and creamy white head; solid hoppy (Saaz !) and sweet-malty nose; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, soft MF, light to medium bodied; distinctive sweet-malty finish with a hoppy-aromatic aftertaste. A very good Pils.............

Tap @ the brewpub, Vienna.
Pours hazy golden with an impressive, white head. Good lacing. Aroma is weak, lightly toffee notes and some flowery hops. Medium carbonation, quite full mouthfeel. Flavour has quite a lot of butter and finishes of okay with some good German hoppiness.

UPDATED: JUL 19, 2012 Draft at the brewpub. Misty golden body. Dry grainy eggy nose. Soft flowery taste, simple, soft, nice. 6/3/6/3/13

Bottle, courtesy of and shared with ozujsko whose gf brought it from Wien (thanks!)
Poured a misty apricot-golden colour with a medium-big sized thick white head that went away slow. The nose was... odd. Rice crackers. The taste was a huge letdown. Rie crispies & hay. Almost nothing else. Weak, kinda odd hopiness, some weak malt presence. Blah. Not impressive at all. A bad batch? I sure hope so because this is dull and definitely not what I expected from the brewer of that great Rauchbier. 5/3/4/2/9

300ml at the brewpub in Vienna and a 500ml flip-top bottle (bb.02.01.2008) brought back home and enjoyed at winter solstice in Tromsø. Pours a white, mostly lasting head resting on a slightly foggy, amber body. Pale malty aroma with hints of citrus. Flavour is a mix of malt and dry, lemony hops with notes of wheat. Refreshing. Well bodied for a helles. Some oily hints to the palate (Wien 02.12 and Tromsø 22.12.2007).
