COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A blond, unfiltered lager with a predominantly hoppy aroma and with noble old world hops from Saaz. Dry and refreshing "Wiener Helles" resembles German Pilsners. This creation by our Slovak Head Brewer Vlado Sedmak is one of the most popular beers at 7Stern Bräu.

On draught at the brewpub. The beer is a slightly cloudy gold color with a medium thin and fizzy white head that burns away steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Malty aroma with notes of yeast and hops. Light body with flavors of malt, grassy hops and yeast. The finish is clean with fruit and wheat flavors left over. Slightly above average overall.

The beer had an amber body with a minimal tan head. Some moderated caramel and bready malt aroma, light citric hop perfume. Easy flavor of caramel malt, some savoury, grainy malt, with a herbal-grassy hops.

Draught at 7 Stern Brau, Vienna. Notes from July 08. Pours a hazy golden with lasting white head. Sweet malty aroma with grassy hop notes. Grainy and grassy flavour, ...though it works with good bitterness from the hops to balance this one out. Easy to drink and enjoy.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2009 My Bottom Line:
Cushiony pils malts coalesce with the wise Saaz spiciness in this balanced and authentic Helles-cum-Czech-style Svetle Lezak.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam covers the bright golden haze.
-The Saaz is quite talkative here, elaborating on wooden and citrusy ideas, on top of the usual herbal spiciness.
-The soft effervescence serves the body ably.
-This is not the only Viennese "Helles" which is very reminiscent of Czech unfiltered Svetlés or Franconian Kellerbiers.
-This is so underrated, it’s depressing. This site is not used by nearly enough quality lager lovers.

On tap at the brewpub.

Draught, 4.7% at the brewpub. Good bready aroma, citric aroma hops. Cloudy dark yellow colour. Stable plasticky white head, giving the frothy mouthfeel I do not particularly like. The flavour is OK bready. Medium bitterness, rough in an OK way. Hint of soft fruit in the finish.

On tap at the brewpub. Golden in colour with a big, foamy white head. Aroma of hay, bready malts and a hint of yeastiness. Flavour had savoury, grainy malt, with a herbal edge and some grassy hops. Drinkable.

Tap @ the brewpub, Vienna. Pours hazy orange with a nice big white creamy head. Almost no aroma - a bit flowery hops and butter. Flavour is flowery hops with butter/toffee. Mouthfeel is creamy and full.

On draught at the brewpub: golden, firm lacy and creamy white head; solid hoppy (Saaz !) and sweet-malty nose; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, soft MF, light to medium bodied; distinctive sweet-malty finish with a hoppy-aromatic aftertaste. A very good Pils.............
