(Bottle 0.5 l) Trade with Werckmeister. Thanks Stefan! Brown untrasparent colour. Small, off white head, fast falling to slowly disappearing foam. Medium body, high carbonation, watery texture, mineral mouthfeel.. Aroma: Strong smoke, smoked ham, burned wood, medium strong banana, soft caramel Taste: Smoke, medium bitter, medium burned tartiness, light caramel malts, smoke finish, dry and a bit weird tatr aftertaste. Pleasant, complex aroma and decent taste. Not bad drinkability.

Werckmeister (572) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - FEB 2, 2015
UPDATED: APR 20, 2015 bottle at home, bought at the brewpub. dark amber color, off-white head. smells smoked, bacon, some berries like cassis & sour cherries. full body, lots of carbonation, wooden notes, smoky, some fruits / red berry notes, light alcoholic / liqueurish. light malty bitter finish. taste is very subtle smoky (compared to armoma), which for me is a good thing. drinks pretty easy.

Saeglopur (747) - Vienna Woods, AUSTRIA - JAN 10, 2015
Draught at the brewpub.
Dark brown, hazy body, with a medium, dense, creamy, beige head, that laces a lot.
Aroma mainly of bacon, also bread and sweet malts, like honey and caramel.
Taste with about the same aromas, but with the bready and sweet malts more in the foreground and also with a bit booze.
Medium, quite creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes with a lot of bacon again, roasty, sweet malty, a bit boozy and astringent.

Very nice! Not that extraordinary, but really quaffable and with a good balance between loads of bacon and sweet, smooth malts. Overall my favourite Rauchbier from Austria I’m always looking forward to at the beginning of the year!

Výčap 7 Stern. Tmavo hnedá farba, biela hustá pena. Vôňa údenej klobásky, anglickej slaniny. V chuti husté telo, jemne nasládlé, plné údenej klobásky a anglickej slaniny. Proste riadne zaúdené pivko, ktorého dochuť trvá šialene dlho. Chutné!

Aroma is bacon, and bacon. And bacon. Appearance is dark brown with a fine foam. Taste is sweet and light bitter. Has a medium long finish, not the best thought. However, I like this one.

Bottle, thanks to Leighton. It pours dark brown, with ruby highlights and a thick off-white. The nose is smoke, meat and some caramel. The taste is smoke, meat, wood, caramel, brown sugar, hay and some alcohol warmth, with a dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and smooth mouth-feel. Nice.

Tap at the brewpub, Vienna, then a bottle shared at The Kernel, London. Pours dark brown with a creamy, light tan cap. Lovely smoke aroma, with light notes of cured ham. Flavor is bang on. Beautiful smoke, honey-cured ham, brown sugar, mild leaves. Medium bodied with fine, average creamy carbonation. Medium to long sweet-smokey finish, more honey and brown sugar, also some toast. Very solid on all fronts. Great character, great balance.

(bottle) pours a hazy dark ruby colour with a frothy beige head. aroma of honey cured smoked ham, lactic acid, strawberries, herbal hops and a hint of grapefruit. flavour is mostly the same, slightly fruity, with a nice dark maltiness to accentuate the mild smoke. medium-bodied with average carbonation.
