750 ml fancy schmancy bottle via local trade. Pours a dark amber-brown with a moderate tan head. Notes of caramel, chocolate, brown sugar, dried berries, oak, red wine, and earth. Some warming booziness. Medium-bodied, with mellow carbonation and a smooth, rich, sweet, warming mouthfeel. Interesting beer, fun to share.

(Bottle shared at Dak’s Memorial Day tasting). Pours near black with tan head. Aroma has plenty of soy and wood going on. Taste is sweet with some roasty bitterness. Thin bodied with a slick/oily texture. astringent finish (to me). I didn’t particularly care for this one. It was weird.

Tasted at Daknole’s Memorial Day "Soiree". Thanks Dave. This is a very interesting brew, almost unique, at least to me. Dark pour, with tan head. Aroma is vinous (wine barrel aged), dark fruit, wood and some chocolate. Thick bodied. Taste is slightly tart, dark fruit (raisins), vinous and boozy (11%abv). Finish is slightly bitter, warm and boozy. If I had the chance to drink more of this ale, I would probably be favorably impressed. Still, a nice drinking experience.

Bottle provided by Alex...Black beer with a light tan head, that is nice and full, good looking beer...Lots going on in the aroma, not totally successful; charred oak with red wine, not enough else going on...The taste is slightly better as a lot of the oak is gone, showing more of a red wine beer with a little chocolate to round it out. Not great, interesting route but not executed fully.

Thanks to beastiefan2k for the share. Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Nose is chocolate, some dark fruit, some tartness, vinous fruit, vanilla, and overripe plums with a hint of booze. Flavor is similar with some cocoa, overripe vinous fruit, booze, and some booze with hints of its former barrel life. There is quite a bit going on in this one; I might let it settle out. Medium body and an interesting contemplative beer.

Malty banana bread aroma with some hops and slight nose of alcohol. Pours a mostly transpaerent orangish-amber with a small white head that diminishes quickly. Nice malty caramel, banana bread, fruit, and raison flavor. A touch below moderate hops in the finish. Slight alcohol is noticeable, but for the most part, very well hidden. A very nice barley wine

75th Street Annona. Courtesy of alex for sharing the 750ml bottle... Pours a dark cola brown with a thin head... Aroma is of vinous roots, red fruit, and a little wood... Flavors are much of the same with dark fruit and a toffee essence. Perks up with some ripened fruit with a fair bit of wet wood and accompanying vinous fruits.

750 ml bottle; thanks for this treat Brandon!! Dark brown pour with trace tan head; huge vinous nose of port wine, chocolate, oak, cherries and wheat; drinks with a slight tartness from the cherries with a healthy dose of dry chocolate, wheat malt and a faint, dry roastiness; sweet red wine with bitter chocolate, plumes, prunes and some booze; certainly one of the more interesting beers of the evening, but a little hot and kind of messy with flavors all over the place; a little aging would do some wonders though to help round out the complex blend of flavors

750ml bottle. Chocolaty, slightly sourish, grapey nose. Someone said beets and yes, it is slightly vegetal. Goddamn isovaleric acid again. What the hell is it with BA beers and sweaty sock? Aside from that, dark fruits (raisins and plums), oily chocolate and maybe a bit of dumpster juice. Oily black pour with a thin and quickly fading khaki head. Flavor is as messy as the aroma. lots of wood tannin, sour dark fruits, grape tannin and alcohol... lots of alcohol. Lively carbonation, slick and slightly oily body with a lasting harsh boozy and tannic finish. A good idea, but lacks in execution. Oh well.. thanks Tim!
