COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
75th Street’s Betty’s Barrel: As the sister beer to our Sour Sally, Betty’s Barrel has been coined a "wood aged, sour brunette". We’ve taken our 2009 XXX-Mas, a spiced Belgian-style Dubbel, and aged it almost 12 months in an oak Pinot barrel with brettanomyces. We’ve then blended it back into XXX-Mas aged in stainless steel cask, to create a perfectly spunky combination of sweet, spiced and sour. 10.5% ABV

Several samples at the 2011 KC Strong Ale Festival. Pour is a hazed copper ruby brown with a smallish tan head. Aroma is acetic vinegar along with a light cherry fruit. Nicely soft fruit, along with assertive vinegar sour. The taste is the same, cherry fruit and bright vinegar sour, along with some tart citrus peel in the finish. Palate is medium to heavy bodied, lower carbonation level and a chewy un filtered mouthfeel. The acetic vinger sour is the story on this beer, though it is decently integrated with the fruit. As this warmed, it did get a bit over the top on the acetic for me. Nice, one of the more memorable beers at the festival.
