3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Pawola22 (2196) - Chicago, USA - AUG 30, 2009
On tap at the brewpub during their Sweet 16 Anniversary week. Pours a brown body with an inch thick, very creamy, light brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves lots of thick lacing. Aroma is mainly caramels at first, but as it warms more and more tropical fruits, coconut, dusty chocolates, and a light roast comes in. Nice, rich flavor with plenty of caramel and chocolate with a tasty underlying, balanced coconut. Interesting "roughness" to the coconut flavor. Finishes with a light roast that starts to open up as well as more coconut. Dry with a medium length aftertaste of rich caramels, chocolate, soft roasts, and tropical fruits with a bit of an edge. Medium bodied and smooth. Overall, a solid brown all-around. Definitely served a little cold, but nice once it warmed up. I like the noticeable amount of coconut.
