Pours muddy brown with a khaki head.
Aromas of cooked sugars, cherries, and other dark fruits.
Tastes like chocolatey raisins and burnt sugar. A bit of a sweet finish.
Full body. Average carbonation. Sweet finish.
Easily one of the best that 75th Street has made.
TomDecapolis (2545), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 30, 2008 Thanks to hopdog for sharing this rare bottle. Hand painted, bottle labeled 12-15-06. Some of the coolest wax dippin’ ever! Pours a deep brown with a medium creamy/bubbly off white head that laced. Aroma of dark fruits, alcohol, oak, caramel, toffee, vanilla, woody, cherries. Flavor was a mix of the same, nuts, really not getting the brett. Lots of toffee and dark fruits. egajdzis (3086), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 27, 2008 Poured a murky red purple color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of Brett L., roasted malts, cocoa, dried fruits, vanilla, oak, and some anise. Taste of vanilla, oak, brett, cherries, cocoa, dark fruit, light vinous, some tartness, and a bit of alcohol in the finish. hopdog (4779), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 26, 2008 Huge thanks to beastiefan2k for sending me one of these rare bottles. Bottled labeled 12-15-06. Tag also says only 150 of these were bottled. This was probably the first waxed dipped, corked and caged bottle that was also hand painted that I’ve seen. Great presentation! Poured a dark brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, dark cherries (chocolate covered cherries), roasty, wood, and a hint of a vinous quality. the wood came out in the aromas the more this one ’breathed’. Tastes of chocolate, woody, vanilla, plums, raisins, cherries, and again the same hint of red wine. The brett was really non-existent, but that didn’t matter as I really enjoyed ths the way it was. I would have said this was a cross between a Dubbel and a Stout. I also noted that this was just ’different’ and I had a hard time defining on what just that difference was. csbosox (997), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Nov 19, 2008 750ml bottle drank at the brewery with the brewers and Gregis. Aroma is boozy with earthy and herbal hops. Taste is boozy with milk chocolate, caramel, spicy hops, and a little funkiness. Maybe it needed more time in the bottle for the brett to come out? beastiefan2k (1181), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Sep 14, 2008 The beer pours completely murky, thick deep, dark brown. Just the thickest looking brown ever. The head starts small but never fades past that level. Aroma is full of dark raisins, lots of them, then dark charred bread, and a light fruitiness that is unaligned to the other aromas. This gives it a nice balance and an uncharacteristic appeal. There is a light oak oxidation coming through as well. Taste is fruity thats slightly astringent. There is that light raisin and charred bread that comes out in the aroma as well. A sweet prune aftertaste. Flavor is a bit lacking in the structure of this beer. Either way, no brett present at all despite spending something like 18 months in a Cabernet barrel with brett. Its comes off as a damn nice Quad though.
750mL, hand painted, beautiful waxed bottle, thanks go out for Gregis for picking this up for me, Regenboog chalice.
