theisti (1166), Leawood, Kansas, USA Dec 27, 2006 Updated: Sep 3, 2008 Tap at brewpub, part of six pack sampler. I had both the normal tap and the cask version of this at my visit (THIS REVIEW IS FOR NORMAL TAP, AS THAT SEEMS TO BE THE NORMAL REVIEW) Amber color, OK head for a smaller sampler glass. Get citrus and nice hop taste, with a good, though not bitter finish. Real smooth. My type of IPA for sure.
A quick note on the cask version - it was tremendous. I would put it at a 3.8 or so. The cask really added to the character and depth of this one. Pour was real cloudy, and the aroma was perfect. If you are at the Brewery, and they are pushing this on cask - its worth a try!
beastiefan2k (1181), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Sep 2, 2008 6oz sample glass at the brewpub. The beer pours with a dark orange color and a sticky lacing. Its basically a lightly tea and lightly sweet hop brew. Nice medium body to go along with it. A light-medium bitter finish. Out of the regular offerings I tried this was the best. BlackDonald (1039), North Carolina, USA Jun 4, 2008 Decent IPA, pours a really nice golden color with a bit of cloudy head that thins out within a couple of minutes. Herbal and piney hops in the nose, but this one has an ample malt backbone, that lends some nice balance to the agressive hoppiness. Pretty good, finishes extremely dry and bitter. Dogbrick (2348), Columbus, Ohio, USA Feb 9, 2008 Sample at the brewpub. This brew is a golden-amber color with a thin and creamy off-white head that dissipates slowly. Rings of lacing. The aroma is piney hops with malt behind it. Medium, dry body with a moderately bitter hops character. Pine, woody malt and light spice are present as well. The finish is hoppy with a touch of lingering citrus. Decent all around. topherh (289), Kearney, Missouri, USA Jan 31, 2008 Pint at the brew pub pours a hazy copper/orange color. Aroma of citrusy hops and some maltiness. Flavor is slightly malty, but mostly of the citrusy, piney hop bitterness in the finish. iowaherkeye (1427), relocated to Santa Rosa f/Iowa, California, USA Dec 23, 2007 On tap at the brewpub 02/02/07. Hazy orange caramel with a fading creamy off-white head. Aroma of piney grapefruit and some biscuity malts. Flavor is much the same with some added hoppy spiciness. The flavor was a little more muted than I had wanted. Cracker finish with some moderate bitterness. Light carbonation with a light to medium body. Not too bad of a beer at all.
