4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BBB63 (5022) - La Porte, USA - JAN 12, 2005
Handbottled by Chris, many thanks!... Poured a clean coppery hue with a small but lasting frothy head and excellent lace. The aroma has qualities of floral, fruity, and piney hops with an additional background of carmelized and pale malts, earthy and a touch phenolic. The taste starts with a wonderful balance of crisp and piney hops, twangy citrus (a little pineaplle and a little grapefruit) and a sweet toasted malt background. Moderate alcohol warming which adds a nice cleanizing action on the palate. The feel is smooth and full-bodied, much like a barley wine in that respect. This is one rocking brew and I feel could be something people will start to seek when in the area.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Dogbrick (4824) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - NOV 8, 2009
Sample at the brewpub (as "Lupus Nocens" or something close to that meaning "Bad Wolf"). The beer pours a clear amber orange color with a medium foamy white head that recedes slowly. Thin sheet of lacing on the glass. Aroma of piney hops, citrus and malt. Medium body with flavors of of moderately bitter woody hops, pine, citrus and malt. The finish is hoppy with a lingering bitterness left behind. Pretty good overall.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Harsebrau (227) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - OCT 31, 2009
Enjoyed at the brewery. Deep amber pour with a tall, white thick head. Excellent lacing. Sweet aroma of oranges and tropical fruits. Rich yet sharp flavor. Round at first with malts and sweetness followed by a piny grapfruit cut. A warmer as well.

Tap at the brewpub. The body was cloudy dark orange gold with an offwhite head. The smell was mostly oranges with some funk and leather. The taste was bitter grapefruit with some black pepper. There was some wood. An unbalanced hop bomb.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ungstrup (23913) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - JUN 14, 2005
[At GABF 2004] A hazy orange beer with a disappearing white head. The aroma is sweet hoppy, while the flavor is very powerful with notes of alcohol and hops being most dominant, as well as hop acid making itself present, leading up to a dry hoppy end.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 footbalm (1219) - Western Minneapolis Suburbs, Minnesota, USA - FEB 8, 2005
Thanks go out to:who else, csbosox for hand bottling this.Murky copper with no head.Nose is like walking into a store that specializes in carameled apples, more like a barleywine.Sweet malts prevail which makes this different than most IIPA’s,gives this a more complex taste vs a head pounding, all hops IIPA.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 egajdzis (4584) - Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 31, 2005
Poured a hazy dark copper / reddish color with a small, creamy, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of butterscotch, light caramel, pine, resin, and citrus hops. The sweetness of the malts dominates the aroma. The malts take a backseat in the taste dept, as the bitterness from the hops stood out. Grapefruit, toffee, and more caramel. Light alcohol noticed at the end. Thanks csbosox!
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 hopscotch (7521) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JAN 17, 2005
Hand bottled by csbosox... Crystal clear deep amber ale with a small, off-white head. Rich, malty aroma with notes of buttery toffee, dried plum, caramelized pineapple and light pine. The flavor is well-balanced between the rich malt and red hot hopping. Tangy, bitter and malty-sweet flavor all wrapped into one very enjoyable brew. Lots of warming alcohol. Full-bodied, chewy and astringent with medium carbonation. Medium-length, bitter, dry finish. Thanks to csbosox for the bottle!
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Indra (2361) - Overland Park, Kansas, USA - JAN 8, 2005
Flowery, fruity hop aroma but with a nearly equal quantity of sugary, toasty malt and hints of butterscotch, caramel, citrus and alcohol. Medium orange-amber color, clear, with a slight, fine head and lacing to match. Flavor is easily the most rewarding part of the experience (as it should be), with the strongly fruity, piney hops up front and closing with a burst of toasty, sugary malt sweetness and faintly medicinal alcohol. Long, gently warming, resinous finish. Smooth mouthfeel, low level of effervescence, with a medium-full body. Easily one of the most flavorful and adventurous beers ever produced by this brewer.
