3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Pawola22 (2196) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 6, 2009
Nitrogen tap at the 75th Street brewpub. Pours a black body with a big, creamy and dense chocolate milk colored head that remains creamy throughout and leaves a lot of lacing. Aroma is thin, but roasty. Light amount of chocolate, but mainly roasted grains. Flavor is nice for an Irish Stout. Relatively thin again, but from my experiences, the style tends to be that way. A light amount of milky chocolate at first before a nice, somewhat big roast profile kicks in and lasts through the finish. The malts grow as well into the finish. Finishes dry. Palate is medium bodied, very creamy and milky, and easy drinking. Overall, a nice example of the style. Nothing crazy, but very solid.
