3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On draft at the brewery, which happened to be the first day open after fire damage. This was my second beer after the IPA and while it wasn’t as n good, it was definitely better than the ratings appear. Poured opaque with a half inch Guinness-style head. Very creamy texture with an almost smoky background. I hope that wasn’t due to the fire. Didn’t really get the chocolate flavors that others have noted, just milky malted goodness.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black and creamy, sticky tan head, with a pleasant, lightly sweet chocolate taste. Said to be Irish-style but this is more middle-of-the-road than dry. Easy to like. I believe the menu said 4.75% abv rather than 5.7%, but anyway I found it went down quickly.

Nitro @ 75th Street. Beautiful cascading pour. Dark brown, chocolate milk head. Hints of smoke and deep roasted grains. Very dry. Lots of roasted malts. Deep roast. Thin bodied. Very easy to drink. A very well made Irish Stout.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nitrogen tap at the 75th Street brewpub. Pours a black body with a big, creamy and dense chocolate milk colored head that remains creamy throughout and leaves a lot of lacing. Aroma is thin, but roasty. Light amount of chocolate, but mainly roasted grains. Flavor is nice for an Irish Stout. Relatively thin again, but from my experiences, the style tends to be that way. A light amount of milky chocolate at first before a nice, somewhat big roast profile kicks in and lasts through the finish. The malts grow as well into the finish. Finishes dry. Palate is medium bodied, very creamy and milky, and easy drinking. Overall, a nice example of the style. Nothing crazy, but very solid.
