Commercial Description:
Unmistakably malty, Possum Trot draws its inspiration from the classic brown ales of England. This unique style, given Kansas City's original nickname, combines a variety of barley to produce a toasty, nutty malt flavor with a slight hop bitterness in the finish for balance. Gold Medal Winner at the 1997 Great American Beer Festival. Bronze Medal Winner at the 1998 International World Beer Cup.

Deep burgundy and brown color. Dark tan head... sweet plum and grapes with a caramel malt hint in the nose. Sweet and sticky, with plums, cherries and sweet sugar flavors, not bad for the style at all.

I was surprised out how tasty this was. Acutally thought it was a nut brown, as it has some rich characteristics of almonds and hazelnuts. Some chocolate and toffee as well in the flavor, rich and roasty, with some spicy bittering hops towards the finish. Pretty darn good.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a medium and foamy light tan head that has decent retention. Patches of lace on the glass. Light hazelnut and malt aroma. Medium, smooth body with a nutty character. Light floral hops and malt are present as well. The finish is smooth and nutty with touches of chocolate in the aftertaste. Slightly above average all around.

on tap pour appears to be nitro. Very thick almost stout-like appearance. Aroma is of roasted malt and a little coffee. Very smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is of roasty malt, a little chocolate and some spicy hops.

On tap at the brewpub 02/02/07. Clear ruby brown with a ring of beige head. Aroma was simply of chocolate and toasted malts. Flavor was the same, though there was a little bit of coffee coming through. Semi dry finish--at some point I got some spicy earthy hops. Light to moderate carbonation with a medium body. Not as good as the IPA, and that wasn’t awesome.

Arguably the best of 75th Street’s five standard offerings, this beer pours a deep reddish-brown with a thin tan head. The aroma is of deep roasted malts, caramel and faint chocolate with a mild hoppiness in the background. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied and sticky with a lightly bitter end. The flavor is of well rounded dark malts, caramel and a hint of chocolate and brown sugar with a lightly bitter hop finish. A tasty brown.
