Pours a hazy straw with a frothy white head. On the nose is a dominant medicinal, plastic-like raspberry extract and backing floral notes; it smells oddly unnatural. Light, thin and exceedingly dry for a fruited wheat. This won a medal, huh? I’m not getting that. Take a sub-par American wheat, add a funky raspberry extract and you get a sub-par, soapy, fruit beer. These guys are capable of so much more that I’m baffled why this remains one of their 5 staple beers. I guess someone’s buying it.

Sampler at the brewpub. It poured a gold color, just a bit hazy. The aroma was of orange peel and sugar with some raspberry flavoring, but you could tell it was aritficial. An ok brew.

On tap @ 75th Street. Fairly hazy, light yellow appearance. Pretty big raspberry aroma with some wheat malts in the nose. Pretty good wheat ale body with some bittering hops and of course, some raspberry. Bittering hops on the finish. Ok raspberry wheat.

Sample at the brewpub. Comes a clear gold with a red tint. Aroma of raspberry, wheat and citrus. Taste is sweet and similar to the aroma. Nice and easy to drink.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a yellow-gold colored body with a finger-width, dense and creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice, streaky lacing. Aroma is some sweeter, lightly tart wheats with a light, sugary raspberry. A touch of grain and orange peel too. Flavor is similar. Sweeter wheats with some grains and a touch of acidity. Light raspberry flavor that blends nicely and doesn’t overwhelm. Finishes dry with a somewhat tart raspberry and a trace of floral hop. The wheats give off a hint of toast in a medium length aftertaste. Light, smooth, somewhat thin body at times with a light carbonation. Overall, a mellow, easy drinking wheat with a nice blended fruit. Not the best wheat out there, but far from offensive.

Tap @ 75th Street. Looks just like the Cow Town Wheat. Cow Town Wheat is the base with raspberry added. Light haze, yellow color. Bright white head. Sweet aroma of raspberry puree. Flavor is a sticky wheat malt with nice fruit. Lingering flavor of raspberry extract. light bodied.
