COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The recipe of Dan Ryan, a local home brewer, who won the 75th Street Anniversary home brew contest last fall.

Tap at the brewpub. The body was deep amber colored with a thin off white head. The aroma was sugary sweet with some bananas. There was also some old leather funk. The taste was very sweet with some banana and cinnamon. There was a leathery dry finish.

   AROMA 8/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 15/20

Served in a tulip at the brewpub. Pours a hazy orange-gold with a creamy, pitted, off-white head; nice lacing. Appropriately named, the nose is sugary sweet with significant contributions from the Belgian yeast strain Dan has used: poached pears, light peach and a moderate spiciness at the finish. Medium-bodied and silky-slick with a warming mild alcohol finish. Sweet and honeyish up front with supporting notes of candied pear, white pepper and alcohol. I’m a bit surprised to see this listed at just 9% ABV, as it tastes and feels higher, yet it remains sweeter than your typical tripel. I’ll definitely order this again if it’s still on during my next visit. Good stuff.
