Bottle... Muckfest 2014... Hazy dark-brown pour with a small, fizzy, off-white head. Decent retention. The bouquet is both nutty and chocolaty. Full-bodied with laid-back. The flavor is deeply-roasted and offers loads of bitter cocoa, followed by a lengthy, carbonic, bitter finish.

12.7 oz bottle. Dark brown with tan foam. Nose is cocoa, ash, vanilla and caramel. Creamy body with a lively buzz. Is this supposed to taste like root beer? Kinda does with vanilla upfront, getting earthy with coffee bean. The sweet potato comes out with warming; maybe some nutmeg.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours black with a creamy dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of sweet dark grains and vanillia with a bit of sweet potato and spice. Flavor is similar with more sweet potato that works with the dark grains and vanilla.

Bottle No 199 of 500 thanks to Brian (not on ratebeer), from 7venth Sun brewery. Sampled on January 24, 2014.
Black color, big brown head. Sweet, spicy, ash scent. Vanilla, chocolate, sweet taste. Vanilla, ice-cream aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterness.

Enjoyed a pint of this excellent beer at the brewpub. The beer was black and somewhat thick in color and body with an off white head with good retention, cling and lacing. Its taste featured a blend of sweet potato, coffee, and notes of toffee and malt. It had an aroma mixed with coffee, chocolate, and roasty earth tones. It was a wet and creamy beer with a smooth body and average carbonation.

Bottle share thanks to Beechner224’s doge. Very gourd-y nose to it with some cinnamon and clove. Taste is chocolate with some smoothness type of mouthfeel from the vanilla. Solid but not something I would go out of my way to get.

Growler from the brewery. Pours clear medium brown color with tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate and holiday spices. Similar flavors. Medium body with average carbonation.

Tap at 7venth Sun. Clear cola pour. Dense, low foam with okay lacing. Sharp sarsaparilla nose, really nice. Spicy, fresh porter flavor that is much lighter on the sarsaparilla bite. Quite nice. Still very dry and a bit dusty mouthfeel wise. Awesome nose.

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2014 Bottle share thanks to beechner224’s drunk brother. Big chocolate malt aroma, mild barrel character. More nice chocolate malt flavors, light oak type character, roasty...there is a bit of the sweet potatoe character in the finish but only because I’m looking.
