Growler shared by drabmuh. Thanks Matt. The beer is a dark chestnut brown shade with a small tan head. The aroma brings some sweet malt, candy, toffee, dark fruit. The flavor offers much of the same, with some notes of sweet maple syrup. Some yeast character emerges midway through, gaining strength as the beer warms a bit. Raisins and brown sugar contribute to the sweet nature of the beer. Light carbonation and light to medium bodied. Overall, this is too sweet and candy like. More yeast and malt character in lieu of booze and sweetness would be a welcome improvement. Ehh... Serving type: growler Reviewed on: 03-18-2012

On tap at 7venth sun. Body is a dark ruby/brown color with a nice off-white head. Nose is beets, candied sugar, some light yeast, dark fruits, and molasses. Creamy mouthfeel. Taste is semi-sweet up front with a good amount of beet flavor and some caramel and molasses notes. Finish is slightly bitter with some brown sugar flavors. Not bad. An interesting take on the style.

Pours a dark brown almost black with a paperthin head. Aroma is subdued, malty with feint chocolate notes. Taste follows, dark fruits, raisins, dates up front. Not bad, I'm glad i tried this bit this isn't my style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at 7venth Sun. Muddy brune pour. Spotty lace. Estery and phenolic nose. Taste is chocolate, banana split, weizenbock character. Chalky and dry palate. A bit like a chocolate heavy weizenbock. Perhaps wrong yeast strain.

Growler courtesy of drabmuh. Served in a 7venth Sun tulip. Pours a cola color with a thin light tan head and some spots of lacing. The nose carries some beets and dark fruits. Some plum and a touch of caramel. The beets come through in the flavor as well. Light sweetness and some dark fruits. Medium body with adequate carbonation. Interesting beer.

Reddish-brown. Thin head. Has an earthy dark sugar aroma. Sweet front with some tartness in the finish. There are some more earthy sugars on the palate with an almost date-like character.

Pours a rather dark brown color, maybe chestnut or mahogany? Aromas of toast with a mild roasted quality. It’s somewhat heavy on the booze with a decent amount of dark fruit and some toffee sweetness. The flavor is sort of bland, though it does have a bit of sweet fruit and sugar/toffee character to it. There’s also a mild metal note. Just sort of okay at best.
