Pour deep, dark mahogany, with a small slightly tan head. Aroma of dark sugar, fruity hops, caramel, slightly dark fruits. Taste is pretty sweet up front, with a medium-dry bitter aftertaste. Medium body, with an average fizzy carbonation.

(50 cl bottle from Toft Vin; BBD: May 2013) Pours a slightly hazy dark copper with little, tan head. Good lace and retention. Aroma is initially what I perceive to be roasted malt followed by something that smells like fruity hops. For me this smells like Black IPA territory. Creamy texture, soft carbonation, full body and a roasted, lingering bitter finish. The ABV is wonderfully masked in this beer. Taste is straight forward roasted malt with gentle hop bitterness. Not that clearly defined but well balanced, dangerously drinkable and not that hop and alcohol dominated that most DIPA’s tend to be in my book.

Bottled. A dark red beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of caramel, malt, and a bit of chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, alcohol, and chocolate, leading dry finish.

50cl bottle at Amundsen. A very dark amber colour, bordering on brown, almost black colour with no head. Aroma is malty and sweet with fruity notes. Some hints of yeast or bread. Flavour is also sweet and the fruity notes are also present. Some bitterness and hops. Definately malts.

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2012 Had the privilege of another bottle. All I can say was that for a kiwi beer this is awesome, absolutely stunning.
