A 500 ml bottle from Central City Liquor Store in Surrey. Black with a moderate tan head. A very decent porter (more like a stout actually), but where’s the smoke? There isn’t any that I could detect. My sample evinced heavily roasted malts with coffee overtones. Smoke? Nada. Okay, but not great.

Still a half bottle in the fridge. I’ll drink the rest in a day or so. Perhaps a different impression.

Draft at tinder box. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Nice malt notes on the nose. Big smoked notes at first but they fade as the beer warms. Finishes clean. Solid example of style.

Fresh bottle, nice looking pour, black with light brown head, head doesn’t stay around so long with some lasting lacing. Nice flavours and very well balanced beer but not as complex as I was expecting. Dark chocolate, lots of Malts with roasted barley flavours, molasses, a little liquorice and ash. Medium carbonation. A good brew and warming for winter and has a nice smoothness to it.

Bottle. This should be called, "Big Head Porter". Pours black and the head fills the whole glass leaving an inch of beer at the bottom. Tastes of burnt sugars, molasses with way too much carbonation to experience anything else.
