COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We always wanted to do something unique for our 8th batch but it came around so fast that we had to meet demand for our existing beers. So we decided to hold out until the 18th batch to produce a seasonal celebration of what 8 Wired has become over the last 18 months. Batch 18 is not for the faint of heart, nor the selfish. It’s a huge celebration of flavour that’s made to share and to savour. It’s the product of our wildest imagination, brewed by hand with one goal - to make the most regal of imperial stouts. Batch 18 uses an enormous amount of malt, hops and a delicious Indian raw sugar, Jaggery. We fermented it with two different yeast strains, infused it with locally roasted fair trade organic coffee, then aged it for three months in American oak barrels. We did this not just for the challenge or the journey, but to showcase our philosophy of creativity and quality. We didn’t just make it because we could, but because we had to, and it’s the perfect expression of our raison d’être, ingenuity in flavour.

UPDATED: DEC 28, 2012 Good solid beer. Have tried it a few times, had it when it was green and wasn’t that impressed, however, now after some ageing it is fantastic. Lovely balance and texture.

Amazing beer. Aroma jumps out of the glass. Chocolate, vanilla, oak, berries, coffee, very complex. Taste is just as good. Is sweet but also has a nice bitterness. Very full mouthfeel.Actually very drinkable for the ABV. Reminds me a lot of Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch.

In my opinion this is one of the best stout’s out there. Aroma, perfect, after taste, perfect, the color is black gold, roasted perfect! Drink just before freezing and I am telling you, only Speedway’s stout is better! Perfect ABV content, just wish a tad bit more caramel/sweetness is needed, other than that, this is a perfect stout! I love it!

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2013 Bottle courtesy of Soren from 8 Wired. Love your work mate ! Pours jet black with a small, tan ring for a head. Nose is all bourbon and vanilla intertwined with a complexity of coffee and cocoa. Oak surrounds the senses. Starts with a thick cocoa like feel and finishes with sweet vanilla, oak and bourbon. Lingers forever. Unbelievable

Black with decent, creamy, brown head / Rich, intense nose of molasses, dark fruit, tobacco, chocolate, and coffee / Full body, inky, relatively smooth but with high bitterness, mostly dry with a hint of sweetness, and long finish / Flavors of dark roast coffee, bittersweet chocolate, tobacco, licorice, coconut, caramel, and oak / Very bitter, characteristic of a coffee stout, but nicely compensated for by good body and flavor profile. Outstanding.

Bottle from mane liquor cheers josh. Jet black pour with a tanned disappearing head. Aromas of bourbon, ash, espresso, slight hint of vanilla and wood. This is intense stuff. Taste is surprisingly smooth. Bottle has been aged for 18 months so the harshness isn't even there. Can't taste the alcohol. Lots of espresso bourbon and heaps of chocolate in the finish. Very well crafted beer. Hints of spicy hops in there too. I don't wanna put my glass down. Doesn't get much better than this!

A very nice drop. Take it easy as this is quite a strong beer. Hard to drink more than 1 in a session.

Tapisse le palais de ces atouts, café, chocolat, mélasse et végétation. Son corps somptueux cache la presque totalité de l’alcool. Très facile à boire pour sa grosseur malgré une belle richesse.
