COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sometimes - OK, rather often, actually - I find myself asking, "How far can we take it?" Keeping in mind that flavour should be the main objective at all time, the conception of Bumaye was one of those moments. To make it we started out with the baddest imperial stout we have ever brewed, and then added loads of tasty sugars to the fermenter foe extra flavour. To smooth out the roughness, we allowed the beer to mellow in Pinot Noir barrels for more than a year.

An experimental 17% Imperial stout released for Beervana 2012.

Bottle at Cookie. Full marks. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla, caramel, rum. Taste is sweet and bitter, with very long length. Palate is syrupy, and full bodied. Black, with a thin head.

330ml bottle. Pitch black color. Tiny to almost no head. Whisky, wood, grapes, wine, mold in aroma. Unique aroma. Moldy, grapes, wine, alcohol, roast, raisins, minerals in taste. Everything is absolutely in perfect balance. Even crisp bite in taste is in its place. Absolutely fantastic beer!

This is big. Lots of boozey notes. Barrel influence is subdued, but becomes more noticeable over time. Still significant bitterness. Warming. Complex. Thought-provoking.

Short rating as getting through backlog. Beautiful colour and aroma. Can’t believe this is so high in ABV. Chocolate liquorice, can taste the wine barrels. Another classy beer from 8 wired

On tap @CBC13. Color is black with big tan head. Both aroma and taste of roast malt, chocolate, tar, leather, coffee, caramel, earthy hops and some vanilla notes. A bit astringent taste, in a good way

This was solid. I read the label and i thought that 16% was going to be way too much, but the beer was really well balanced. The ETOH was nicely hidden away - no mean feat at that ABV. The barrel is a little overbearing at the end, especially when it warms. Otherwise, a really top BARIS that is only going to get better. Did you read the label? This bad boy has many good ageing years left.

Bottle. Near black, oily pour with mahogany highlights and nearly no head to speak of. Very rich nose of sweet soy sauce, oaky wood, and dark fruits.Thick palate, lots of oaky vanilla, lots of rich chewy malts, with a pleasing vinous, ruby port-like sweetness and depth. Lightly acidic, salty finish. The rounded vinous structure becomes more apparent as the glass warms. Silky, deep, warming. Loved it.

12oz bottle purchased at Louisville Beer Store. Darkest brown pour with a medium tan head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, raisin, black cherry and dark red wine. Chocolate and red wine flavor with dark fruit accents before a bitter dark chocolate finish. Kinda tastes like a cherry liquer filled chocolate. Pretty damn tasty.
