COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In my opinion, coffee rivals beer for the title of "greatest beverage in the world". I often say that I would rather give up beer than coffee. So it is only natural that we would attempt to make a beverage that incorporates both. If we were to succeed, surely this would then become the greatest beverage in the world? After years of research and trials in the garage, I have come up with what I think is the perfect marriage of coffee and beer: A hoppy double brown ale, that compliments both the roasty and fruity aspects of the coffee without putting up too much of a fight. The coffee was selected in collaboration with the Christchurch institution C4 Coffee and consists mainly of lightly roasted, delicate and floral, Ethiopian beans. Worlds are colliding and, in my humble opinion, greatness is achieved on the other side.

HOPS: Pacific Jade, NZ Cascade and Pacifica

MALT: Gladfield Pale, Crystal, Munich, Caramalt, Chocolate, Oats

YEAST: Wyeast 1272 - American Ale II

Rating #1875 - 2015.08.31 - Draught - Three Boars. Pours a rich copper brown with a tan foam. Aroma is coffee grounds, earth, woodsmoke. Palate is mild caramel toffee, strong earthy roasty coffee. Extraordinary depth of coffee flavour, decent bitterness. Lovely stuff.

Pours a nice clear brown with tan head. The aroma is full on (in a good way) with a big boozy hit along with coffee and chocolate. Big coffee taste along with sweet malt. I seemed quite thin in mouthfeel to me. So others say chewy, I wish I got that because that is was seems to be missing for me. Fairly low carbonation. If you’re interested in styles, not sure that I really fits a Brown Ale more Brown IPA. Good but had higher education expectations after tasting some of their other beer.

Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours darkly ruddy with a slight beige head. Light coffee aroma with some complex hop. Med body or better. Flavor is moderate coffee, hops mostly from under the Southern Cross, and some mild darkish malt. Not exactly dry; lightly bitter. Flavors are complex, and arguably subtle. Not sure how to view this, so benefit of the doubt. Good drink. I mean it tastes nice, but what am I supposed to think about it? BoD!

BB 14 12 16. Poured a clear dark red-brown with a one-finger beige coloured dense foamy head that retained very well and laced well after each sip. Carbonation moderate to high with fine to medium bubbles. Aroma strongly of chicory and not much else. Taste of roasted coffee and sweet caramel with hints of brown sugar and dark fruit; alcohol well hidden. Medium body. Smooth with a creamy mouthfeel and subtle coffee on the long finish. Very good.

Malzig-herber Beginn, weiche Kaffeenoten. Karamell, eher geringe Würzigkeit, Die Kaffeenoten steigen ein wenig. Wässrig süß, dann trockener, insgesamt harmonisch. Gelungen! 10/10/11/11/11/11
