COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In my opinion, coffee rivals beer for the title of "greatest beverage in the world". I often say that I would rather give up beer than coffee. So it is only natural that we would attempt to make a beverage that incorporates both. If we were to succeed, surely this would then become the greatest beverage in the world? After years of research and trials in the garage, I have come up with what I think is the perfect marriage of coffee and beer: A hoppy double brown ale, that compliments both the roasty and fruity aspects of the coffee without putting up too much of a fight. The coffee was selected in collaboration with the Christchurch institution C4 Coffee and consists mainly of lightly roasted, delicate and floral, Ethiopian beans. Worlds are colliding and, in my humble opinion, greatness is achieved on the other side.

HOPS: Pacific Jade, NZ Cascade and Pacifica

MALT: Gladfield Pale, Crystal, Munich, Caramalt, Chocolate, Oats

YEAST: Wyeast 1272 - American Ale II

Bottle at Mikkeller Bar. Clear red-brown coloured with a small off-white head. Sweet and fruity aroma of caramel, coffee freshgrinded coffee and chocolate, Fruity flavour of coffee, chocolate and hops. Hoppy finish.

Bottled. A red beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of caramel, smoke, and coffee. The flavor is sweet with notes of coffee, roasted malt, and herbs, leading to a roasted finish.

50 cl bottle. Pours hazy brown with a huge off white head. Aroma is coffee, herbal and roasted malty. Toasted malty, toffee and dense coffee. Bitter and roasted malty. Lingering coffee and herbal dry finish.

Bottle. Hazy brown color, large fluffy beige head with good retention. Aroma of coffee grouns and bitter cocoa, subtle licorice. Taste is very chocolatey espresso. Nice.

Keg @ CPK. The pour’s medium brown with a small tan head. The nose is smooth roasted coffee, note of chocolate, some nuts. The taste is more roasted coffee, light caramel, toasted wood, some berry. Light, sweet finish. Medium body, soft. This drinks below its chunky ABV. Overall, a really nice effort. Well-rounded stuff.

Botella en casa. Deep dark brown colour, nice big steady beige brownish creamy head. Pleasant aroma of well toasted malt and caramel with some chocolate to it. Good mouthfeel indeed. Pleasant flavour of well toasted malt and caramel with chocolate and some dark fruit. Good pleasant soft yet very noticeable bitterness. Very well balanced Brown Ale indeed!

BOLTZ7555 (2823) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - FEB 1, 2013
Burnt tangerine/chestnut/mahogany pour with small but long-lasting eggshell head. Nose of brown sugar-infused coffee, honey, vanilla, and toffee. Flavor is also quite sweet with some candied fruit, roasted malt, and chocolate-covered coffee bean. A bit cloying.

Habanero (2749) - Tranbjerg, DENMARK - JAN 25, 2013
UPDATED: FEB 15, 2013 Bottled. Pours hazy and deep brown with a medium sized off-white to beige head, leaving a fair lacing. Nose of grapefruit, orange, coffee, chocolate, caramel and floral + pepperish notes. Sweet flavor with a slightly toasted malt taste, that ends up more dry and decent bitter. Medium to full bodied, oily to creamy texture and soft CO2. Delicious and very enjoyable. ★★★★

Dark brown coloured and clear. Has an off-white head, medium duration. An aroma with a mix of nice hops and roasted malts plus faint coffee. Flavor starts heavy sweet, more coffee and hops. Finish moderate to heavy bitter. Harmonic and creamy and dry.
