COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In my opinion, coffee rivals beer for the title of "greatest beverage in the world". I often say that I would rather give up beer than coffee. So it is only natural that we would attempt to make a beverage that incorporates both. If we were to succeed, surely this would then become the greatest beverage in the world? After years of research and trials in the garage, I have come up with what I think is the perfect marriage of coffee and beer: A hoppy double brown ale, that compliments both the roasty and fruity aspects of the coffee without putting up too much of a fight. The coffee was selected in collaboration with the Christchurch institution C4 Coffee and consists mainly of lightly roasted, delicate and floral, Ethiopian beans. Worlds are colliding and, in my humble opinion, greatness is achieved on the other side.

HOPS: Pacific Jade, NZ Cascade and Pacifica

MALT: Gladfield Pale, Crystal, Munich, Caramalt, Chocolate, Oats

YEAST: Wyeast 1272 - American Ale II

Prokroustis (682) - Thessaloniki, GREECE - SEP 1, 2013
Pitch dark brown body with a small off white head. Great, strong aroma with coffee, roasted malty with some chocolate and licorice. Great flavour with good coffee as well as chocolate, espresso, a herbal bitter note and alcohol in the finish. Great.

From a 500ml bottle on 26/1/2014 (shared by Butz - thanks). Pours a dark amber with a small head. Has a powerful aroma dominated by masses of coffee. Taste wise, it delivers oodles more strong coffee, along with heaps of caramel and milk chocolate. This is a super sweet one but is nicely balanced by some big lingering hops. The texture is thick and the carbonation modest. All up, this is a really good, full on sweet coffee ale.

500ml bottle, pours brown with a small off white head. Aroma is coffee and caramel, toffee and pecan, this is a great desert beer, but there is good balance from the hops ending with a rounded sweet caramel and pecan toffee pie sweetness. Very rich and smooth palate. An excellent and original beer.

Pours cloudy brown, tiny white head, strong aroma of burnt caramel and coffee. Deep coffee flavours with a mild warming peppery and alcohol aftertaste. I love coffee and I love brown ales so itís not surprising I love this.

Wow. Donít doubt that the label says what you are going to get. Itís got the raw coffee aroma and then the full coffee profile in the taste. Itís dark brown and has a great head. It does not let on that itís alcohol laden beer. No other nonsense like "chocolateí or other things, this is double coffee. Very good beer.

On tap at The Trappist, Oakland. Pours very dark brown with an attractive clinging tan head and a coffee aroma. There is a hearty coffee and treacle flavor with a bit of anise and a dry finish. Very tasty.

On tap at the Trappist. It pours a very nice dark ruby red with khaki foam. The aroma is earthy, woody hops. A tad floral with some red fruit and a decent amount of coffee. Very refined. The flavor is huge coffee and earthiness with some strong floral/spicy hops. Some caramel and molasses. A complex and tasty brew. The mouthfeel is very full.

A very nice pour with a cream color head. Pretty good flavor but I can never get past a beer that tastes like someone added a pot of coffee to the secondary. I prefer the flavor coming from the malts and not the addition of coffee beans. Overall still a good beer, poured on tap at The Trappist.

500 ML bottle Pours a cola color and settled a dark brown color. Some nice ruby highlights with this. Half finger of light mocha colored film that fell to a nice film. Just bits of lacing. Nice roasted coffee nose. Underneath is roasted malts and caramel. Sweetness is underneath the big coffee nose. taste is warmed brown sugar, caramel, roasted malts and just subtle coffee and chocolate notes. Medium feel and medium carbonation. Good lingering sweetness followed by a bite of coffee in the finish. Well balanced between brown ale and coffee. Leand more towards brown ale in the taste and feel and that is quite refreshing. Nice, nice beer

Very brown brown almost black in colour, delicious dominant roasted coffee aroma, with a hint of hops. Tastes thick and creamy and the coffee is ultra rich,perhaps over balanced in the coffee direction, but it is sensational
