COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In my opinion, coffee rivals beer for the title of "greatest beverage in the world". I often say that I would rather give up beer than coffee. So it is only natural that we would attempt to make a beverage that incorporates both. If we were to succeed, surely this would then become the greatest beverage in the world? After years of research and trials in the garage, I have come up with what I think is the perfect marriage of coffee and beer: A hoppy double brown ale, that compliments both the roasty and fruity aspects of the coffee without putting up too much of a fight. The coffee was selected in collaboration with the Christchurch institution C4 Coffee and consists mainly of lightly roasted, delicate and floral, Ethiopian beans. Worlds are colliding and, in my humble opinion, greatness is achieved on the other side.

HOPS: Pacific Jade, NZ Cascade and Pacifica

MALT: Gladfield Pale, Crystal, Munich, Caramalt, Chocolate, Oats

YEAST: Wyeast 1272 - American Ale II

Bottle. Clear brown appearance with low carbonation and a small head. Chocolate like coffee flavour dominates but doesn’t take over. Perhaps a novelty beer but still a superb one.

The coffee bean smell make you think you are in Starbucks. There is also a hint of vanilla. Huge fluffy white head, beautiful caramel color! The taste is just like it smells, coffee, cocoa, vanilla, caramel. The swallow is sweet, bitter, perfect combination. Just the right amount of ABV. Warning this tastes way to good to have more than one because you can’t put it down and with the 8% ABV, it’s way too easy to drink. Be careful, it will creep on you if you have two!!!! Great Beer!

Bottle during exams. Pours clear dark ruby copper with a beige fizzy head. Aroma is very coffee forward with a somewhat powdery and roasted coffee. also you get some subtle notes of caramel, dark malts, cocoa beans and some nuts. Also a weak spicy character which might come from the coffee as well. nice and simple aroma. The taste is also very coffee forward with an earthy and roasted coffee flavor. I also get some bitter roasted malts, weak sweet fruityness, some caramel, cocoa beans and some bitter nuts. Overall a slight bitter and roasted taste. I like the direction of this brown ale which takes the style away from just being a somewhat sweet nutty and caramel thingy. This one has a nice edge to it. More sweet notes are coming through as this warms. One of the better brown ales I’ve had!

Flaska från Riga. Brun med ljusbrunt skum. Doft av sött kaffe och lite choklad. Söt med mycket kaffe och mörk choklad.

Interesting, but more chilli than coffee. Beautiful to look at: nutty brown with huge beige head. Aroma of red chilli, toast, burnt chocolate. Soft on the palate with pepper bite that lingers. Chocolate rather than coffee. Rather weird but tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours medium to dark brown in colour with a thin light brown head. Strong aroma of coffee. Slightly bitter taste with flavours of coffee and burnt malt which sit nicely on the palate. Not a bad beer, but at the price I would probably not purchase it again.

just a spectacular coofee brown ale. perfectly balanced hopps, coffee and nut flavor makes this one seriously crushable. It is hard to believe it is 8% alcohol. pours almost black in color with a thick tan head. smells like coffee. what a great beer from new zealand...they have figured out how to use hopps.

[6148-20140124] Bottle. Coffee grains aroma. Hazy, dark brown red body with a quick foamy off-white head. More coffee and grainy malt in the flavour with a long aftertaste. Medium body. Interesting. (7/3/8/3/15) 3.6
