UPDATED: JUL 3, 2014 Wow! This current version is vibrant with a capital ’V’. Tropical fruit to the fore - full body but light on the tongue. This is the shit.

This beer is their seasonal release, it showcases 2 remarkable NZ hops. For a beer that contains only wet hops, aside from a bittering addition it is amazing. Bottle and tap, bright with a elegant lacing in a clean glass. Huge aromas of resinous green and tropical notes of near overripe fruit. Sublte sandlewood undertones. On the pallet again resinous and oily, yet crsip and dry. A pronounced malt character holds up the fruity spiced hop flavours. Finishes with a smooth bitterness, and a alluring oilyness that makes you want another sip...fresh is best. Wow

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2013 On tap at Pomeroys in Christchurch. Nice amber colour with creamy head. Tastes of pine and citrus and malt flavours and lovely after taste on the palate. This was one of the beers I came to NZ to try and wasn?t disappointed. Like the Super Conductor, fantastic beer and lives up to its high reputation. All in all a great beer and right up there with the best.

Smells like the perfect IPA. Tastes like a your ideal IPA. Gorgeous, oily fresh hops pulling your mouth in all kinds of directions. Dry, bitter, sweetly citrus and pineaple. Good amount of alcohol tickles the nose and warms your chest. Terrific!

On tap at BeerDeLuxe. Very long flavour. Aromas of grass, caramel, and smoke. Taste has a sweet start, with bitterness taking over for a long finish. Palate is creamy, and full bodied. Amber, with a frothy head.

Draught keg at Brewdog Camden. Aromas of over-ripe fruit salad - nectarine, melon and strawberry - similar in flavour, with a lingering but not sticky/sweet finish. Was expecting a wet-hop beer to be more grassy but this was just jam-packed with fruity flavours.

This beer was richly anticipated. I had heard it was coming out a month or so back and hence grabbed it as soon as I was able. What strikes you is the copper-gold colour under a thin (but not patchy) white head. There’s a sparkle of carbonation. Putting the nose in the glass reveals a full bouquet of passionfruit, grapefruit, passionfruit pulp, gooseberry, quince jelly and an undertone of spruce gum and cape gooseberries. This smells seriously good. Seriously good. It is full and creamy in the mouth at first with initial passion, citrus and berryfruit and then developing into tangerine and ruby grapefruit flavours. It becomes soft and sweet but also bitter as it goes on. There’s a savoury-bitter element, lest you think this is a one trick pony of tropical fruits. A sage-like herbaceousness develops as it stays on the tongue. The finish is enduring and brings more herbs, grasses and a golden malty flavour long after the carbonation has settled beyond its charming sherbet-like effect. This is rave to your mates beer and I will.

very hazy amber with strong passion fruit and gooseberry. Plenty of damp hops woody notes too. High carbonation, juicy medium bodied, gooseberries up front, lupulin punch on tip of tongue. Long pithy tropical bitter finish.

This is a fantastic beer. You can really appreciate the difference in flavour between this and the original. A must for IPA lovers.
