COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not your usual German/Belgian inspired wheat beer. Brewed with 50% wheat, good amounts of NZ and US hops and a British ale strain.

500 ml bottle on 13/5/2012. Pours golden with slight haze and good frothy off-white head. Complex nose; lemon, grapefruit, yeast, hops, peach, malt an awesome cocktail! Aroma of mango as it warms up a bit. Taste is bitter and then smooth with a citrus and caramel aftertaste. Good job.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours clear golden yellow-orange with a big, fluffy white head. Nose is light wheat and very big on citric hoppage with notes of zest. Light spice behind it all. Taste is huge on citrus. Light spices and hay with wheat just behind it all. Finishes with grapefruit. Quite spritzy carbonation but very easy drinking. Not bad for a style I wouldn’t normally like

Pours amber with a huge, growing white head. Nose shows tropical fruits. Lots of passion fruit, lychee, grapefruit. Very faint wheat underneath. Similarly fruity flavours, more passion fruit and grapefruit, followed by soft doughy wheat. Very refreshing and easy to drink. Too much carbonation.

Bottle. Slightly hazy orange with a huge white head. Aroma of lemon, melons, wheat. Taste has fleeting sweet oranges before tangy citrus, white pepper and cloves as well as some astringency from rather high carbonation. Refreshing, but a big rush towards the dry finish.

From a 500ml bottle on 24/4/2012. Pours a light, slightly cloudy golden with a big foamy head. Has a very distinct fruity, yeasty aroma akin to an English pale ale on steroids. There’s a sweet light fruitiness up front which is quickly subsumed by a big, long, sour, tart citric bitterness. There’s also lots of English pale ale yeastiness to be found. Way over carbonated. Like nearly every other 8 Wired beer I’ve tried, this has lots to it, but it doesn’t quite work for me. It’s a weird one, with pale ale, saison and wheat beer elements, but surprisingly it’s not that easy to down. Worth a try, but not their best effort.

Only a slight haze in a lovely yellow body with a fulsome white head. Aromas not of standard wheat beers, but of citrus and spruce hopping, heavy on the pine. Soft initially and then prickly mouthfeel. Tropical fruit salad and a lovely bitter tartness. Lovedly and pillowy in the mouth when you put a bit of air through it. Excellent quencher, but why does it need to be so expensive? While it is excellent, it does not taste like an $11.99 beer.

Golden, good head. punchy, tart hop nose with hints of grapefruit. spritzy and in your face from the beginning. Big bitterness well after the finish on a subdued wheat base. Given it’s drinkability, prob my favourite 8 wired beer.

Golden brown with a big frothy head - not quite white I’d expect from wheat beer. Sharp and citrusy on the nose, and the wheat tang comes through at this point. In the mouth it’s a lot more solid and rewarding, not as stodgy and single-note as other wheat beers, but at the same time it’s all a bit restrained. Not as adventurous as other 8 Wired beers, but probably still a bit too much going on for non-craft drinkers looking to move out from more mainstream wheat offerings. Good, but not great.
