We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet you’ll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

BOTTLE. Pours hazy orange with big fluffy white head.. Big fruity hop nose, passionfruit seems to dominates, very sweet.. Orange/tangerine in the hops upfront going to a sweet fruity middle, then finishing with a slight sticky caramel malt backend.. Sourced Cape Cellars

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2016 Strong but not exceptional IPA. Resin & pine with floral hints, but not as fragrant and fruity as expected. Great aftertaste

bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Aroma of floral hops. Clear dark amber color, frothy 2" beige head, many bands of lace. Taste is semi-sweet caramel malt with overtones of fruit. After a fizzy swallow, floral hops force their way in, dominating the rest of the way. However, the malt will not be eliminated, and stays in the background until the very end. A very solid IPA that doesn’t boast too much of how many IBU’s are present. Balanced and bold.

Bardzo pijalna, dobra IPA na nowozelandzkich chmielach, bez ?adnych dodatkowych wodotrysków.

7.3%ABV. IPA. Tapped out a rich amber. 16ºSRM. Nose is a little cloying so best apprecaited from a distance with passion fruit, crushed grapes, all on a bed of lactic richness like yogurt. Mouthfeel is soapy. There is are roasty malt flavors with nutty overtones. The hoppy finish is grassy and woody and less pine sap like. There may be a good cedar, oak like quality to the palate. The really interesting thing about this brew is the fact that the sweet palate continues to bloom past the bitter finish with a very very pleasant caramel sweetness. There are very nice spice flavor notes as well with cilantro being most prominent, but also subtle parsley in the background. Chervil maybe??? All this spice is making wonder if there aren’t any Chinook hops in here?? Goes on Favorites List!

Bottle. Golden color, clear liquid, white foamy head. Hoppy floral bitter, lacking pine tones of European IPAs. However, excellent beer.

Beautifully balanced. Nothing over-powering. Great mouthfeel. Bitterness well-judged. Faint aromas of alcohol. Really very good, if quite pricy.

Very floral hops, "Lilikoi", a bag of grapes left overnight on the counter overnight. Deep golden with creamy, light golden hued head, good lacing. Crisp and refreshing, very easy drinking even at 7.3 ABV. Has good bitterness yet also a well balanced malt profile. A very tasty treat from these talented Kiwi brewers!
