We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet you’ll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

Poured from bottle in Franz Josef. Hoppy crazy as most kiwis ipas. Predominantly hop. And more hops at the end

Pours clear amber color with a thin white head. Nose is pine. Aromas are mainly pine and herbs. I don't get any fruits aromas. Great bitterness. Quite cool IPA but a bit rough. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500mL bottle from Beer Cartel. BB 01.10.15 Golden body, holds a firm white head. Aroma bursts with hops; citrus, passionfruit, guava, grass, rockmelon & honeydew. Not to be overshadowed, there’s plenty of toasty, biscuity, lightly caramelised malt in there too, Big mouthful, very full, slick, creamy, hangs on the palate long and persistent . Yummy sweet caramel and toasty malt forms a solid base for an onslaught of big hop flavours; sappy resin, passionfruit & guava, orange rind, melon, grass, pepper. Big bitterness doesn’t let up, lingering on a long finish. Fantastic stuff. Great showcase for NZ hops, well made overall.

If you like hoppy, super-bitter IPAs – and I do – this is great. The colour is murky yellow brown with a quick disappearing head. Aroma is pine, fresh flowers, and wheat. Resinous palette with flavours of dried fruit, apricots and strong, hoppy aftertaste. Powerful and delicious. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear deep golden with a nice looking offwhite head. Pine and resinous aroma with hints of grass, malts and wet leaves. some subtle tropical notes as well. Taste is fairly balanced, but bitter. Malty with a resinous hoppyness. Nice. Body is medium with a fairly crisp texture. avg co2 levels.

On tap at Scotch Wine Bar, Blenheim. Pours clear orange with a medium head. Malty nose. Intense taste: Sweet, fruity, fresh. Impressive punchy malt backbone. Slightly bitter finish. Awesome indeed!

Slightly hazy medium amber body with a long-lived, off-white, creamy, dense head that leaves lots of lacings. Intense, ridiculously hoppy, sweet and absolutely stunning aroma of peach and other tropical fruits and citrus, caramel in the back together with grass. Strong flavour of tropical fruits like peach and mango, although the citric notes are even stronger. Caramel in the background and pine in the aftertaste. Light to moderate sweet taste with a heavy bitter long-lasting finish. Crisp and refreshing, mid-bodied, smooth texture, soft carbonation, moderate dry. One of the very best IPAs I’ve ever had!
