COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet youíll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

Amber coloured, very clear beer. First taste is hoppy, in a bittersweet way. Taste lingers long after swallowing.. I love this beer, especially on a hot summer afternoon!

500ml bottle. Nice looking pour, kind of an apricot yellow/orange, decent off-white head, mostly filtered. Huge tropical fruit hops aroma with some floral resin. Taste is rather thin compared to the smell, with some earthiness creeping in the bad. Body is light and crisp, almost like a excellent quality lager. Overall, a good IPA, but the taste didnít hold up to the potential of the aroma.

I love this beer. Itís my all time favourite and is a permanent resident in my fridge. Itís a smack in the face with a tropical punch bowl.

Spicy, peppery, herbal nose with lots of hop cone, candied citrus, grapefruit pith, and lemongrass. Dusty, earthy, floral, herbaceous...a bit much. Wanted it to be a bit juicier but very interesting. Enjoyed it...but not quite world class.

Pours a clear, dark orange color with a finger length off white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a soapy lacing. Smells very interesting; unlike any IPA Iíve smelled. Get lime, peach, like a guava or papaya smell, a unique floral presence, white grape, grass, dryness, some sweetness. Taste starts with some lime, peach, white grape, and some kind of tropical fruit. Then a tiny bit of breadiness shines through as well as some sweetness, but the astringency of the hops are increasing at this point as well, creating an unbalanced flavor profile. Luckily, the brewery was not going for a balanced product. The finish is very complex, with more lime, peach, some papaya or guava, maybe passionfruit, different floral flavors, some carmel sweetness, a very herbal flavor as well. The herbal flavor is not quite pine, but is does add a spicy-type flavor to the finish. Pretty astringent and dry finish, with the different hop flavors lingering after every sip. Itís very hard to describe the flavors in this beer because I have honestly not experienced these flavors in an IPA before. High medium body with a creamy and slick finish. I hope to have more IPAís in the future featuring New Zealand hops. Very unique IPA.

I got the 500 ml bottle from the discount bin at Paulís Grocery in McCall, Idaho. Poured a clear amber with a really robust beige head and lot of lacing. Great head retention. The nose is a blast of aromas. I get citrus, flowers, tropical fruit, pine, and some caramel malts. Medium body and a mouthfeel that puckers you up. The flavor is a reflection of the aromas, with lots of complexity. There is all sorts of hops present, with pineapple, mango, peaches, orange peel, grapefruit and the finish is long and dry with great bitterness This is really, really good.

This is a decent IPA. About an inch frothy head that dissipates fairly quickly. Mild hoppy taste with an ever so slightly bitter finish. Would drink gain but not too high on my list. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is dark yellow to light amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin), with notes of butter and spoiling fruit. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Medium to full body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. One-dimensional nose and fairly buttery. Not a very good rendition. And despite the commercial deScription, the hops smell pretty much exactly like what they claim it *doesnít* smell like...grapefruit and pine resin is about it. This is a very hit-or-miss brewery, and alas this beer is a miss.

Bottle 50 cl. Clear darker golden in color with a foamy whitish head. Fruity and sweet aroma, some tropical fruits mostly but also some biscuit. Taste is slightly bitter with hints of some tropical fruits. Feels very smooth. Sweet fruity and bitter finish.
