COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet you’ll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

Bottle. Clear amber color with a medium-sized off-white head. Fruity aroma with orange and caramel. Flavor is sweet caramel malt, orange, mild grapefruit, passion fruit and some bitterness in the finish. Quite sweet and fruity IPA. Very tasty.

50cl Bottle @ RBBSG. Light amber coloured beer with almost no carbonation and a small white head. Stronger hoppy aroma. Full palate. Finish is strong hoppy bitter. Much less balanced than the Fresh Hopwired. Xtreme IPA

Dark amber colour, white head. Fruity aroma, hops, passionfruit, lychee, pineapple, tropical marmalade and nelson sauvin. Hoppy bitter flavour, light sweet, caramel and marmalade. Finish sweet, honey, light bitterness.
(From 50cL bottle @ RBBSG II, Wilrijk. Courtesy of Bart. Thanks!)

Bottle from AJ’s Arcadia. Pours clear orange w/ a fairly big head. Lots of grapefruit, sweet orange, nectarine. Not a huge malt presence, but the light, fruity hops are quite pleasing & make for easy-drinking. Nice!

Thx. to Bart // 50 cl. bottle sampled @ RBBSG 2012 after the Fresh one // clear amber with a white head // smells of nelson, bitter caramel, marmalade, touch exotic fruits // taste is a bit more mellow and round than smell would suggest, caramel, bitter marmalade, tangerine, mandarin. grapefruit, bitter malts, tad spice, mango, exotic gruits // nice body // way more balanced than the Fresh although that one was awesome in a different way but I think everyone including me liked this one more // lovely IPA

Tasted right after the Fresh hopwired

Head: White, medium, foamy
Colour: amber/ orangy/ gold
Smell: very exotic, lots of fruits, lots of fruity hops, mango, peach, lychee , grapefruit, exactly how i like my IPA’s !
Taste: like the fesh hopwired this one’s also very close to the aroma , very fruity exotic, notes of pineapple blended perfectly with the grassy limey flavours of the hops, awesome IPA ! prefer this one over the Fresh hopwired

Yellowish, rather thick head, fast gone over metallic copper-golden beer. Floral & fruity hops dominating the nose. Lots of citrus, pure hopoils. Bitter, fruity. Hops again dominating truly everything. Malt backbone utterly missing, in a way that the CO˛ acitidy is the only other thing to taste and feel Thinnish, feels very carbonated, slightly burning MF. Unidimensional, overhopped, no balance; not really convincing.

Bottle (clearly passed its prime). Pours dark amber copper color with a big sudsy off white head that settles and shows big sticky lacing. Aroma is sweet bitter dry hops and caramel malt with faint spice. Taste has a big caramel malty flavor with the hops being very muted and dry with pine muted grapefruit and pepper like spice. Palate is full sticky and drying. I know this comes from New Zealand, but if a fresh bottle could be had I would love to try again.
