We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet you’ll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

Aroma is just as I expected, the new world hops invade your nostrils and I get a little high. Mangos, gooseberries, kiwi and other exotic notes try to get the upper hand. The taste is a lot more malty than you might think, and that is good, there’s a lot more body to it that gives it a bit more attitude. The aftertaste disappears a bit too quickly for it to be a really good contender, but it is good, no doubt.

Off white head, clear deep golden body. About laceless. Aroma; powerful hops, citric resin, floral notes, pine, light roasted wooden malts. Taste; fruity roasted malts, hops, citrus, resin, wood, berry peels, citrus peels. Somewhat dry, nice in the mouth, fine carbonation. Overall alright fruity ipa. Bottled from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Slightly hazy amber colored, nice head. Nose of tropical fruit, hops, nelson sauvin. Pretty bitter flavor, tropical fruit again, little malt presence. Dry and bitter flavor. Certainly shares some characteristics with Marlborough wines. Could use some more maltyness, but neventheless a nice IPA.

this is one beautiful IPA. I tasted it for the first time tonight, and it’s one of the most surprising beers i’ve tasted. surprisingly great. I got notes of mandarin in the palate. but it’s a lovely bright taste while holding a rich fullness of the hops. I’m definately going to try it again soon
