We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet you’ll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

Bottle 0,5l. Pours a clear golden amber with a pillowy off-white head. Aroma of rich malt and floral hop, some tropical fruit notes and a little herbal. Hint of caramel. Flavour is an interesting heavy malt character with fruity, floral hops. Less citrus and more soft fruits and herbs. Full flavoured and complex. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Vinmonopolet Sørlandssenteret. Pours amber. About 3 cm of white head. Very bitter. Full mouth feel. Low, but stingy carbonation. Warming. Feels like and IIPA. Resin, pine, grapefruit, citrus aroma. Very good, but very bitter.

God.

Nice citrus like aroma, unfortunately not quite as strong on the nose as I’d hoped. A little under carbonated for mine but nicely colored; a light caramel. Quite a toasty flavor with a slight but pleasant charcoal aftertaste. This beer sits nicely on the palate, leaving a thick velvety coating, and a gentle bitterness.

Hopwired pours a mostly cloudy burnt orange with a foamy beige head that lasts a good while and is very easily agitated. The aroma is sweet grapes, lime, grapefruit and toast. The flavor is grape, lime, almost a mix of wine and champaign and molasses. This is a fairly dry beer. Overall this is a pretty nice beer.

This IPA is unique. Had it for the first time overlooking queenstown, NZ. Very enjoyable. Had it again recently on tap at Alehouse Project in Melbourne. Is such a nice IPA, strong pungent Kiwi hops create a different and robust IPA, very drinkable.

500ml bottle from drinkstore. Pours clearish amber with thin head. Grass, hay aroma. Some fruit hints but not much. All sweet flavour with a cough syrup bitterness that’s not great. It astringent and is not a pleasant aftertaste. I don’t think this is the freshest bottle so will have to try again and rerate

Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is big grassy hop. The flavour is medium bitter with a strong nettle grass hop palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A real grass bucket IPA but no complaints from me.

This is a really nice display of NZ hops, and I wish it were fresher because there are nice fruity notes all throughout and a complex melange at that, but it’s all just a bit subdued because who the hell knows how fresh this bottle really is. Still pretty damn tasty, and I imagine it’s legitimately amazing fresh. Time for a road trip...
