COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet youíll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

Murky, dark orange color with a small head. Aroma of orange, grapefruit and floral hops. Moderate caramel malt notes. Sweet caramel and toasted malt flavors. Moderately bitter with light pine. Thin body. Not bad, but at the price point it comes in at in the States, a let down.

Serving: 500 ml. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a very cloudy amber brown with a small, frothy, off-white head. The nose is powerfully full of hops. Lots of earthy and herbal notes with a slight papery side and an underlying peachy fruitiness. The flavor is very hop forward, but restrained compared to the nose. Nice citrus and floral notes with herbals in the background and a bit of malt to add some body and backbone. Really quite good. Light to medium body with a good bit of softer carbonation leading to a dry and bitter finish. This brew really was enjoyable and great for any hop head. Itís a shame itís so damn expensive.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours a cloudy amber with a dense, creamy and lacing off-white head. Intensely citrusy hop aroma. Medium body, a little greasy caramel and then a shitload of sophisticated hops leaving a tropical fruitiness Ė I bet thereís some Nelson Sauvin in there. Good hoppy finish. Delicious. 050411

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a huge yellowish head. The aroma has notes of hops, spices, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, spices, hops, lemon, and elderflowers, leading to a bitter finish.

Orange golden body, whide head. Aroma of very wild tropical punch with some caramel malt and lavendel. Strange tea-like bitterness, tannins? Dry and balanced.

500ml bottle poured into my De Struise glass.... The body is an ugly cloudy medium brown, not what I want my ipa to look like. A decent tope head leaves about a two finger cap, thick lacing. Tough call here on score, great head, terrible body. Sounds like this chick I once knew... At first whiff I really dig the aroma, but as I get deeper Iím quite scared off. Mostly caramel and lots of malt, then there is this weird body odor note that almost makes me gag, light tropical fruits on the back; pineapple. Very weak grass hops on the finish, maybe its too old? Not good... The taste is also very malty, tons of caramel and mixed with pineapple, sounds like it would be good, its not. The hops are stale grass on the back, chemically, a little bitter. This is tough one for me, not very good at all. Iíd like to blame the freshness but this just got into WLV so it canít be this old. At this point Iíd have say pass on this unless you know its fresh or on tap.
