4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: SEP 23, 2011 Tap @ Galbraith’s. Hazy, orange-gold pour with a short white head leaving light lace. Fruity, flowery nose very reminiscent of Ithaca Flower Power, one of my favorite IPAs. Medium body and medium-plus carbonation that holds all the way through to the finish! Berry, melon, peach, mango, toast and grapefruit. Finish is short, bitter and dry. Lovely and a top-drawer IPA. After several bottles and more pints from the same Galbraith’s keg at a later date, I’ve noted that Hopwired (like many fragrant IPAs including FP) tends to be more ordinary as it gets less fresh, possibly up to 0.5 points worse: much less interesting aroma, less balanced and less enjoyable overall. Get it fresh!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
500mL bottle purchased at the Davis Food Co-Op. The aroma on this is very green. Some piney hops, along with some citrus mango notes as well. I’m wondering if there might be Citra or Apollo in this. There’s a light sweetness in the nose. This is nicely aromatic and quaffable. Mostly hazy copper-amber-orange body with a whitish head. Starts with some citrus hops flavors (orange, passionfruit), before it becomes a little caramelly in the middle. Finishes with an herbal hop bitterness that is moderate. Pretty well-balanced and pretty enjoyable.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
courtesy of fiulijn - cloudy reddish-orange beer with a modest head retention; sticky nose leaving a solid fruity hoppiness (apricots, mango and maybe peach); a fair carbonation, a good malt backbone and a solid bitterness; quite sticky palate; dry and long fruity hoppy and bitter finish - straightforward and very drinkable

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml bottle. I grew up with gooseberry bushes growing in the yard - stewed gooseberries make a lovely sweet pie filling. A very distinctive smell, but not the smell that comes from this IPA! Truth be told, this could probably be labelled as an IIPA and no-one would object. Very sweet fruit flavours on the noise, passion fruit is certainly there, and a rich bergamot tang too. Lovely on the tongue, rounded sweetness with a pleasantly rough bitterness from the hops. Smooth carbonation and texture, with a long hoppy finish. A really well balanced IPA this one; won’t scare the yeast-heads but will certainly satisfy the hop-heads.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at Mikkeller Bar.
Pours hazy dark golden with a light yellowish head.
Heavy brew with a taste of grapefruit and grape seeds.
I thought it was a IIPA.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught @ Mikkeller Bar. Pours orange. Kind of sweet aroma. Grape and citrusy notes. The taste is well balanced. Lots of grape and gooseberry notes but also some caramel malt. Bitter grapefruit in the aftertaste. Quite heavy stuff.

Bottle from Bruisin Ales. Big malty floral taste and aroma followed by kiwi and other fruit. Tropical taste. Very nice.

[keg at BrewDog Bar, Edinburgh] Like the idea of an all-kiwi IPA. Good, albeit very hazy, deep gold. Healthy dose of pithy citrus on the nose – quite limey? The flavours are also sharp fruit, plenty of grapefruit and orange, lemon peel. Refreshing and really rather good. Long dry, bitter finish

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg at The Brewdog Bar, Edinburgh with cgarvieuk and Benjii. Hazy gold with slight white head. The IPA wars were definitely in session with this, very dry and bitter is the only way to describe it, lots of grapefruit skin and pith, lip puckering, but also very decent.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
On keg at the Brewdog Bar, Edinburgh for their IPA Wars. The beer was a cloudy golden colour (or as I heard another punter being told, "heavily conditioned") with a great thick, foamy white head. Resinous hop aroma of passionfruit and peach. Great flavour of passionfruit and mango with some light malt. A little sweet and nicely bitter. A chewy mouthfeel and lingering bitterness. Fantastic!
