COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet you’ll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

Bottle, 50 cl: Hazy orange colored beer with a medium-sized, durable white head. Aroma is a punchbowl of tropical fruityness - sweet, slightly sour notes of mango, mandarines, kiwi. Notes of elderflowers and cats piss too. Taste is bitter-sweet and mouth-fullfilling and massively fruity. Long dry slightly tart and heavy bitter finish. Wonderfull creamy texture, averagely carbonation. A differnt take on the modern IPA-style.

Pours a beautiful orange amber. Aroma is of gorgeous tropical fruit. Smells like one of those tropical fruit juice boxes but fresher and more delicious. Taste emulates the nose, with relatively sweet tropical fruit leading into a massive dose of refreshingly earthy hops which linger in the mouth long after the beer has been swallowed. Truly an incredibly IPA, possibly the best. This is the beer that turned me on to the wonderful world of craft beer.

Bottle. Yellow haze. Love the description on the back of the item. Super nice red grapefruit aromas, must be cascade !!(maybe too much). Wonderfull balanced brew. Just my kind of ipa brew. Some unexpected sweetness could be due to the hopping.

Bottle taken from the shelf-stockers hands. I was hopeful that this meant fresh (and I was told it was). Pour is very murky copper with a medium off-white head. Aroma is murky resinous hops with a prominent caramel malt backbone. Not smelling fresh. Flavor is old resinous hop, light caramel malt backbone, light oxidation, and a touch of sadness. I guess I should not be too optimistic about an imported IPA’s freshness. Nothing like what the brewer intended based on description. I like the few offerings I have had from this place, but this was not great.

On the Ninth Day of Christmas 2011 the beer gods gave to me... one mighty IPA. Pours a burnt orange amber color with a white foam head. Aroma of grapefruit with heavy pine and heavy earthiness. Really pulls you in. Sweet sticky resiny grapefruit taste. Chewy and earthy on the finish.

Bottle. Deeply cloudy amber beer with a strong head. The aroma is very well hopped, and the flavour is very well hopped with a long bitter and growingly dry finish. Overall a very, very nice well hopped beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Hazy red gold body with a sparse white head. Aroma-taste of toast, pine needlesm citrus pith and marmalade. Sweet body, but a significant lingering bitter finish. Medium to full bodied, moderate carbonation.

Great 16.9 oz birthday bottle from sherm1016....thanks!!!!!& a cloudy, beautiful amber orange...even looks yummy! Tastes even better....let’s see - there’s some grapefruit; some pineapple; sour green grapes....wow. Wonderfully offset by the malty balance to all these hops....definitely another future favorite....may have to retire to New Zealand to get this more often....very very tasty.

Love it, great IPA with lots of upfront bitterness which finishes with some good apricot stone fruit. Good viscosity in the palate too.
