We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet youíll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

Pours a cloudy brown colour with a white head. Aroma is grapefruit, citrus, passion fruit and other fruits with some hops. Taste is also sweet and fruity, with passionfruit and grapefruit leading to a great lovely balanced bitter finish. Really nice soft mouth feel. Really great.

0.5l bottle @ Henrik. This one pours a nice cloudy copper-orange body with a small big-bubbly off-white head that sticks to the sides of the glass. What a fruity aroma! Lots and lots of tropical niceness with peaches, pineapple, citrus, grapefruit, and tons of hops. Quite elegant. Yeah, it somewhat continues in the flavor; itís quite hoppy, lots of resinous bitterness here. Almost a bit to much for my tongue actually. And hedge-tones. Lots of that. Even though itís perhaps a bit overkill on the hops, it manages to be somewhat balanced. The aftertaste just screams bitter bitter bitter. A solid IPA. 09.02.2012

The age of this bottle probably did it no favors. Aroma of citrus was immediately obvious after opening the bottle. Color is deep gold color and hazy as an unfiltered beer should be. Intense excellent bitterness with flavors of lime and citrus. Good beer but I think a fresher bottle is called for.

Shared 500 ml bottle at Cardinal. Pours light misty golden with a fingerthick, light brown, creamy head. Herbal, sprucy, fruity hop acid notes on the nose. Full body. Light doughy. Smooth to drinK. Bitter and light alcoholic. Crisp flavors and a dry tongue at the end.

Shared bottle @ Cardinal. Pours a nice white head, golden in color. Just like a IPA should look like. Itís a great IPA with aromas packed of fruityness and hops. Great malt taste to balance the hops. The new zeland hops are truly great for IPAís! Will have this again!

0,5 l. bottle. My first beer from NZ. Clear, dark golden-copper colour with an average white head that fades to a thin cap. Aroma is very fruity and sweet: Oranges, citrus, lime, and...yes, passion fruits and other exotic stuff. The malts gives chocolate and caramel. Taste is medium to heavy bitter with the sweet malts lurking just behind you. Medium body with a refreshing carbonation. Slick texture. Long lasting bitter finish with those sweet exotic fruits. Excellent IPA.

Shared bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours almost clear golden with a small white head. Tropical fruity aroma, piney hops and gooseberries. Taste is a cacophony of tropical fruity hops, rhubarb and gooseberries, moderate sweet malty base, dry fruity mouthfeel, a superb beer.

UPDATED: AUG 20, 2012 poured from bottle into a pint glass. Pours a dark orange color with a small head. very pungent and hop driven aromatics. Very noticeable aromas of navel oranges, hops, pine resin and some boozy aromas. medium/full bodied with rich flavors of toffee, resin, hops, caramel and navel oranges. Lacking a bit on the mid and it being a somewhat older bottling, it also has a somewhat oxidized flavor to it as well(mind you this isnít all that old, only from the fall). A quality DIPA, but far from the best example. Itís a problem when DIPAs fall off as fast as they do, because itís hard for a beer to hit the midwest near itís peak freshness when itís coming from NZ.

Pours a hazy orange colour with a creamy white head. Fresh aroma full of hops, some pine and spiced hints and swet tropical fruity notes like green mango and orange peel. Light sweetness, medium to heavy bitterness but very well balanced. Very refreshing. medium body, oily feel, soft carbonation and a very nice lasting hopy bitter after taste. Very good one, this is how a IPA should taste!

500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.3%. Hazy deep golden colour, large white head. Wonderful aroma of tropical fruits, crushed white grapes, citrus and crushed gooseberries. The flavour is a burst of fruity New Zealand hops, also with resinous notes, on a medium sweet malty base. Bitter finish, long and very bitter aftertaste, but not too extreme. Excellent beer!
