COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet you’ll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.3%. Hazy deep golden colour, large white head. Wonderful aroma of tropical fruits, crushed white grapes, citrus and crushed gooseberries. The flavour is a burst of fruity New Zealand hops, also with resinous notes, on a medium sweet malty base. Bitter finish, long and very bitter aftertaste, but not too extreme. Excellent beer!

Bottle. Hazy orange pour, off white head. Citrus, orange peel, pretty sweet, caramel, and various tropical fruit. Pretty good. Unique, but there are many IPAs that I like better.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber, with a nice creamy head. Aroma is sweet tropical fruits and flowers, with notes of orange. Flavour is similarly tropical, but with a good bitter orangey presence. Orange peel builds in the finish, giving it a good growing bitterness.

Pours murky and golden. Big white head. Nose is a unique hop I haven’t smelled before. Very much the coniferous tree smells but a bit more on the sharp side. Some caramel malt notes as well. Taste is mild sweetness with some big bitterness. Great flavor. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The beer pours a very hazy, rusty, chestnut color with an average, off-white, frothy head which settles to a thin froth and leaves similar lace. The nose is typical Nelson Sauvign hop with the passion fruit, lots of lime, rustic and floral, a bit of tangerine, and faint toasted caramel. The flavor is a bit of a letdown with still plenty of lime, very leafy and floral, light passionfruit, rustic notes moving into the finish. The palate is medium to full, nearly lively, velvety, and slightly oily. The beer finishes with more rustic and lime, still leafy, and slightly caramelly. A very nice use of the New Zealand hops with the tropical fruit notes and pleasant, moderately high bitterness. The malts add just enough sweetness to balance and avoid from being dry and astringent. This brewery has not disappointed me yet.

Bottle. Orange with thin white head. Lovely hoppy flavour. The NZ hops are bold. Nice bitterness also. Malty presence. This is pretty tidy.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Hazy amber pour with a plump off white head. Looked good in the glass. Fragrant nose dominated by the nelson sauvins with notes of pine, fruits and cat piss. Similarly herby hop driven flavour, but maybe not the hop bomb I was expecting, with some decent citrus notes. Very dry bitter finish. Started off a little underwhelmed by this but it grew on me, and this isn’t without character.

Bottle, 50 cl: Hazy orange colored beer with a medium-sized, durable white head. Aroma is a punchbowl of tropical fruityness - sweet, slightly sour notes of mango, mandarines, kiwi. Notes of elderflowers and cats piss too. Taste is bitter-sweet and mouth-fullfilling and massively fruity. Long dry slightly tart and heavy bitter finish. Wonderfull creamy texture, averagely carbonation. A differnt take on the modern IPA-style.
