COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet you’ll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

Oh wow. A Sauvignon Blanc in beer form. That’s what this actually smells and tastes like. Stereotypical NZ sauv blanc flavours; strong citrus with passionfruit, lychees and gooseberries. But then the hops kicks in and smashes the fucking door down like a drunken and horny gatecrasher at an all girls school function. Tables are getting flipped over and people are screaming and running for the door. This is a great beer. Probably the best IPA out of the 5 I have tasted. Burnt orange with a small head, it has a strong front palate with citrus flavours but then that gives way to a smooth and dry lingering finish. A delicious floral beer with a punch in the face. Like getting beaten up by a bridesmaid after you got drunk at a wedding and tried to get some poon-tang and had no idea your advances weren’t warranted. Fantastic.

Great hoppy IPA. Pretty disappointed that I’ve been to pubs and "beer shops" on much of north island, NZ and no one had even heard of 8 wired until I got to Auckland. Anyway, great beer. Glad I finally found some in NZ.

Amber, orange colored brew. Hazy. Floral hoppy aroma, some pine and citrus. Flavor is nice, good bitterness, some malty sweetness. Nice.

Cloudy dark orange with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and rather hoppy - pine needles and peach. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish. 230811

Bottle. A nice golden color with a white head. A bright hoppy aroma with a well balanced dry, bitter hoppy flavor balanced with citrus and fruits. A very nice IPA - nice job NZ.

This beer has probably the best NZ hop aroma I’ve ever had. Lovely balance and quite complex. Good bitterness throughout, this is a very smart IPA.

bottle-pours dark hazy orange with a small spritzy white head around the rim of my glass. its not that great looking but not bad. seems somewhat too hazy. anyways, nose is earthy, bitter, woody, with quite a bit of oxidization. flavors exhibit the oxidization but its not all that bad-nice woody notes with quite a bit of earthy tones. not overly bitter. medium body with a very clean mouthfeal. Im sure this is a great IPA fresh, but ok in this state. HOwever, i am SO sick of buying these beers that are supposed to be "fresh" when they are far from it. short finish with some lite woody notes and lingering earth.

Tap at HashigoZake - Awesome. Enough said. This is a staple of my hop diet. One of the best beers in NZ.
