COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet you’ll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

Pours a clear, dark orange color with a finger length off white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a soapy lacing. Smells very interesting; unlike any IPA I’ve smelled. Get lime, peach, like a guava or papaya smell, a unique floral presence, white grape, grass, dryness, some sweetness. Taste starts with some lime, peach, white grape, and some kind of tropical fruit. Then a tiny bit of breadiness shines through as well as some sweetness, but the astringency of the hops are increasing at this point as well, creating an unbalanced flavor profile. Luckily, the brewery was not going for a balanced product. The finish is very complex, with more lime, peach, some papaya or guava, maybe passionfruit, different floral flavors, some carmel sweetness, a very herbal flavor as well. The herbal flavor is not quite pine, but is does add a spicy-type flavor to the finish. Pretty astringent and dry finish, with the different hop flavors lingering after every sip. It’s very hard to describe the flavors in this beer because I have honestly not experienced these flavors in an IPA before. High medium body with a creamy and slick finish. I hope to have more IPA’s in the future featuring New Zealand hops. Very unique IPA.

2014-03-15. Crisp golden orange body, nice white head. 3+ Aroma of green grass, straw, moderate green hops, very light yeast touch and malt. 7+ Flavour is pleasantly bitter throughout, grassy straw bitterness, light fruity undertones, moderate pale malt core has light biscuity touches. Fruity undertones grow as the glass warms up. Smooth average plus bodied palate with a soft carbonation that suits it nicely. This got lost in my fridge for several months unfortunately but I decided to enter the rating since it is still quite good. I suspect from the description that it has lost a lot of the more assertive interesting fruit aspects, but it is still rather nice. I look forward to trying it again. Bottle, Production date December 2012, private order

Bottle into tulip 1/2 pint glass. Beautiful soft white head, lovely amber colored perfection. On the nose......wow, super, super pine, tropical fruit, perfect malt backbone, hop bomb! Hmmmmm, The promise of the aroma doesn’t carry through to the palate. Refreshing, stronger malt presence, alcohol coming through, piney taste lingering. Feel a little let down given the strong aroma, still, very nicely done.

Super rich aroma, with loads of hops, powerful mango and resin. Looks good too. Strong taste profile, delicious juicy bitterness. Very expensive, yet very good. (50cl bottle brought by Bertanne from De Molen, shared with Bertanne and Katia)

0.5l bottle at the Salt House, Galway, Ireland. Amber Colour, tropical fruits aroma, full body with rich, oily sensation in the mouth. And it is all about those unusual NZ hops, still balanced very well with the malt used. Probably the best beer in the world. :)

Brilliant clear dark copper under a thin white cap. The nose has a beautiful papaya and mango fruitiness with a touch of acidic bitterness. The taste has a bit of mango and earthy berries with a piney and berry skin bitterness.

Big bottle from NZ. Had this on a very special occasion. I am still wondering, why this is not the best beer from NZ. It is on of the best IPAs I have ever tried. So multicolored and curious, that you can not even describe it. It think this one has every bit of hoppy pallet in it - from dull bitterness to cotton candy sweetness. Pricey, but worth every cent.

Rate number 1,000. Bottle from Cornelius. Hazy amber body with an off-white head. Lively carbonation. Excellent lacing. Stunning aroma of green apple, pineapple, mango, kiwi fruit and lemon cake. Subtle, juicy flavours of tropical fruit, blood orange, lime and a hint of lemongrass. Refreshing minty finish with a noticeable alcohol kick. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Nice fizz. The aroma is nicer than the taste, but this is just lovely.

Cerveja com ótima formação de espuma e persistência diferenciada, cor amarelo avermelhada. Aromas de lúpulo intensos. Do malte se capta um caramelo. Muito boa cerveja!
