COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet you’ll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours a cloudy amber with a dense, creamy and lacing off-white head. Intensely citrusy hop aroma. Medium body, a little greasy caramel and then a shitload of sophisticated hops leaving a tropical fruitiness – I bet there’s some Nelson Sauvin in there. Good hoppy finish. Delicious. 050411

Bottled. Amber colour with a small slightly off-white head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is peach, tropical fruits, some slight berries and mild caramel notes as well. Flavour is resiny, fruity, citrus, some slight wooden and spicy notes as well. Bigtime fruity and slightly toffeeish finish. Wellbalanced, and actually quite a pleasant IPA.

Bottle shared with Mes&Sim, Leighton and Scopey at the CP&K. Cheers! Hazy amber beer. Light off white head. Soft palate. Creamy malt base. Mellow marmalde hops. A little lactose, Very slightly sour. Nice but not quite as good as the other two 8 Wired beers we tried this evening. Reading the description - I didn’t really get all the NZ hoppy goodness. Just decent mellow hops. Maybe a bit tired after it’s long journey? Intriguing - should try this again.

Bottle from Ørsted, Copenhagen, batch 12, bb 2011-09-14, presumably 4 months old
Hazy amber color; small-sized head. The aroma is surprising, a mix of pungent fruits and manure; passion fruit, chemicals... The body is less strong than expected, quite lean; dry toffee flavor, with a powerful and resiny hopping; the resins increase in the final, with piney accents, for an aggressive result. Original, very good.
