We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet you’ll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

At the multi-national tasting held in Rome-Italy on 29/08/2015 (Jow, Mortlach, ippopotamo36 and Marco). Bottle (fresh) courtesy of Sylvan, thank you. Pours hazy (semi-filtered) orange peel color, medium adhesive off white cap. Nose: elegant nose, cara malts, a hint of smoky notes, resin. Mouth: fresh and easy although the ABV, clean, creamy maltiness, cookies. Nise!

2/28/2011 9:49:41 PM Bottle at Beer Temple. Nice golden orange body with big head. Nose of hops and fruits and pines. Really inviting. Taste is sweet, fruity and tons of hops and pines and citrus. Just lovely. Very well done. All the more impressive considering how far it’s traveled.

Bottle at Rome tasting mixing things up with New Zealand getting in the mix. Nose of hops and forest floor. Tastes of pine forest, orange creamsicle, tropical fruits, caramel, and honey dew. Quite bitter and quite tasty.

Draft at Good Dog. Hazy amber pour with a thick finger of off-white head that reduced to a medium foamy ring and ununiform splashes of lace. Strong floral malts. Mote than a bit unusual. Woodsy floral malts. Earthy citrus. Tangelos. Chanterelle mushrooms. Bruised peaches. Pineapple cores. Watermelon rinds. Rose hips. Hints of dark toffee malts. Basil. Coriander seeds. Green bananas. Muted tropical flavors. Medium sweet caramel malts mixed with enough subtle hops for a mostly dry finish. Complex - but ultimately feels obtuse.

On the nose is a beautiful hop presence with malts disguised until deeper thought. The beer pours a rich amber with minimal white head. The first taste is as bitter as you want an IPA with a sweet finish, overall a medium to heavy IBU. On the palate comes an enriched hoppy presence with average carbonation, notes of toffee, passion fruit and i think i’m getting blood orange? Fantastic beer and one of my all time favourites! Loved all the craft coming out of NZ even if they are the worst neighbours ;) good stuff guys.

From bottle in Tulip glass. Pours amber with lively CO2. Piney and fruitiy hops on the nose. Forward bitterness that carries through to the palate. Awesome.

Keg at Brewdog Brum. It certainly has all the fruits going on. Plus the sherbetty pzzazz of an electric sweet shop. Great IPA. Wanted more of this.
