COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet you’ll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

This IPA is unique. Had it for the first time overlooking queenstown, NZ. Very enjoyable. Had it again recently on tap at Alehouse Project in Melbourne. Is such a nice IPA, strong pungent Kiwi hops create a different and robust IPA, very drinkable.

On tap @ Csakajósör - A bit hazy light amber colour with a long lasting off-white head. A lot of citrussy and tropical hop aromas. Simple but balanced malty taste in the background. An explosion of New Zealand hops: Passion fruit, peach, grapes, interesting and complex hoppiness. Medium carbonation, long dry finish, leaves bittersweet fruitiness in the mouth. Excellent IPA.

Draft to taster at Ei8ht Ball. Pours a hazy light golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma had soapy floral character with a splash of tropical fruit. The flavor had more soapy floral notes, some tropical fruit, mild bitterness, something about this just wasn’t working for me, seems old.

50 cl bottle@home in Tulip@approx 5 degrees C. Pours deep amber with medium off white head with sufficient retention. Having had Tall Poppy from 8 Wired about a week ago, I believe that the brews form this brewery are the most aromatic I have had this year. The Marlborough winemaker is right, it does smell of gooseberries! Add to that hop, malt, elderberry, banana and Sauvignon Blanc, then you are getting there. Taste of a really good IPA, lots of hops, well balanced by malt and hints of the nuances found in the aroma also. Not as creamy as Tall Poppy, but really good, low carbonation palate also. Suited the beer to heat up a little opening it’s taste spectrum. Great stuff once again from 8 Wired.

Bottle @Brewfellas, Nicosia. Appearance: beautiful dark amber colour with good white foam. Aroma: lots of tropical fruits, floral, hoppy and fresh.Taste: lots of fruity and hoppy bitterness balanced with malts and hints of caramel. Dry and bitter finish. Medium to full body. A winner!

Translucent gold hue with a quickly dissipating small white head. Potent aroma containing notes of grapefruit, orange, spruce, hops, caramel and malt. Light bodied. Malt and caramel backbone with a citrus, hops, grass, and tropical fruit finish. The additional fruity features are quite nice, but I would have preferred a more full bodied, hoppier beer.

A 500ml bottle dated best before 1st October 2015 was poured into a pint glass. The beer poured a hazy copper amber colour with a one and a half finger head with good retention leaving nice stringy lacing. The immediate aromas were of pine, grapefruit and lime followed by lots of tropical fruits like mango and pineapple. Taste was malt caramel sweetness followed by tropical fruit flavours especially mango, pineapple and orange finishing with a nice bitter pine and grapefruit. It was medium bodied, medium carbonation, and slightly sticky. Overall, it was a very nice balanced IPA. The sweet malts and tropical fruit flavours make it a must buy for me.

Pours a darker Amber than most IPA's. Hence a slightly more noticeable malt as well. Medium frothy head that dissipates. Very strong hops with strong bitterness. Light straw caramel aroma. Lingers strongly. Very enjoyable. A full on ipa with a different hit from the American IPA's.

Smells of a Juicy tropical punch in the face, passionfruit and stone fruit. Sweet malt backbone but dry and bitter finish. This is a cracker.

UPDATED: MAR 19, 2015 Bottle. Golden color, white head. Aroma of pine, peach and citrus. Smooth taste of pine, butter, citrus and peach. Floral finish with a little bitter caramel. Great beer, as always with 8wired. Still, it’s clear that this bottle is too old, I’m curious to how a fresh version will taste.
