COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet you’ll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

16.9 oz bottle. Clear amber with a frothy white head. Nose is orange, caramel, wild strawberry and grass. Crisp medium light; clean, juicy and quenching. Taste is lemon and lime zest, green apple, honey and soft pine. Beautiful hints of sweetness with an exotic hoppy blend. Impressive IPA.

Translucent gold hue with a quickly dissipating small white head. Potent aroma containing notes of grapefruit, orange, spruce, hops, caramel and malt. Light bodied. Malt and caramel backbone with a citrus, hops, grass, and tropical fruit finish. The additional fruity features are quite nice, but I would have preferred a more full bodied, hoppier beer.

A 500ml bottle dated best before 1st October 2015 was poured into a pint glass. The beer poured a hazy copper amber colour with a one and a half finger head with good retention leaving nice stringy lacing. The immediate aromas were of pine, grapefruit and lime followed by lots of tropical fruits like mango and pineapple. Taste was malt caramel sweetness followed by tropical fruit flavours especially mango, pineapple and orange finishing with a nice bitter pine and grapefruit. It was medium bodied, medium carbonation, and slightly sticky. Overall, it was a very nice balanced IPA. The sweet malts and tropical fruit flavours make it a must buy for me.

Pours a darker Amber than most IPA's. Hence a slightly more noticeable malt as well. Medium frothy head that dissipates. Very strong hops with strong bitterness. Light straw caramel aroma. Lingers strongly. Very enjoyable. A full on ipa with a different hit from the American IPA's.

Bottle from Hopology, nottingham. Amber colour white head. Citrus and bitter orange aroma. Taste sweet to bitter sweet finish. With massive citrus fruit flavour. Nice beer.

Smells of a Juicy tropical punch in the face, passionfruit and stone fruit. Sweet malt backbone but dry and bitter finish. This is a cracker.

UPDATED: MAR 19, 2015 Bottle. Golden color, white head. Aroma of pine, peach and citrus. Smooth taste of pine, butter, citrus and peach. Floral finish with a little bitter caramel. Great beer, as always with 8wired. Still, it’s clear that this bottle is too old, I’m curious to how a fresh version will taste.

ENG: Probably older 500ml bottle from Liquor Mart in Winnipeg (can’t tell how old, there’s no information on it), poured into the tulip. Golden, almost clean color, medium, dissipating tan head. Some lacing. Aromas of tropical fruits, lemon, piney / woody notes. Tastes sweety, fruity hops, grapefruit, nicely bitter, citrusy, balanced with hints of caramel. Delicate bitter aftertaste. Medium carbonation, medium body. Overall even if it’s possible a several months old bottle, it’s still full of nice tropical fruity (but not only) flavors, pleasantly bitter with hints of caramel addition. Very good beer!

PL: Prawdopodobnie nieco wyleżana butelka 500ml zakupiona w Liquor Mart w Winnipeg (brak daty na opakowaniu), przelana do kieliszka. Złocista, niemal perfekcyjnie klarowna barwa, średnia, lecz zanikająca, jasna piana. Nieco lejsingu. Aromaty owoców tropikalnych, cytryny, drzewno-żywiczne. W smaku słodkawe, chmiele owocowe, grejfrut, przyjemnie goryczkowe, cytrusy, wszystko to zbalansowane odrobiną karmelu. W posmaku przyjemna, delikatna goryczka.

Bottle. Strong orange/peach aroma. Pours a dark cloudy orange with good head and lacing. Sharp hoppy flavour with white wine, orange peel and lime notes. Nice amount of balancing maltiness. Medium bodied. Sharp bitter finish. Superb IPA.

Aroma of fresh pine crushed passion fruit and herbs. Taste of guava young melons so to speak! Palate of bitter orange and tang. Not dissimilar to Emelisse blond .

Bottle. Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Amber, with a light haze. Big, bubbly, messy, sticky, off white head. Lovely, tropical fruit to this. On the squidy side of things. Ripe peach. Passion fruit. Fruit salad sweets in there. Good malty depth, again on the fruity side. Bit of wafer biscuit. Mouthwatering. Drinks soft sweet, and crisp bitter. Smooth, clean palate. Feels way under 7.3%. Finishes crisp, long bitter, with a fruity, ice cream sweetness on the lips. Lovely.
