3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 reakt (948) - Greater London, - AUG 17, 2010UPDATED: JAN 2, 2012 Bottle courtesy of Evin from Kernel Brewery, some kind Kiwi dropped it off there. However, this followed a glass of I Hardcore You so my tastebuds may not have been on top form. Poured a pale amber with an off white head. The nose was great, lots of fruits, typical of NZ hops. We guessed there were some pacific gem involved? Also a little grassiness and hint of caramel sweetness. Flavor did not live up to the aroma, the hops were still there but dulled by the alcohol and sweetness. I found it a little thin, hot and astringent in the finish. Not a bad beer by any means, just needs a little finesse.Re-rate: much more fresh this time. Still some caramel, heat and sweetness but theres much more complex piney, fruity hop in the flavor. The Nelson just sings...Awesome, just goes to show how freshness can make all the difference and how we should all make the effort to visit the source over foreign bottles! Previously 3.2 6/3/5/3/15
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 chris__hartley (165) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 24, 2013
It pours hay coloured with a slight orange tint; the head is off-white and mousse-like. The aroma has notes of: pineapple, mango, pine resin, and walnut skin. The taste is light sweet that finishes medium-heavy bitter; there are notes of: pine, grapefruit, and biscuit. The palate is medium bodied, has medium carbonation (tiny bubbles), slightly sticky, and a medium long bitter finish. Overall, meh.

Bottle 500 ml
Aroma leafy like with grapefruit notes. Candy like backing. Soft aromatic fruity ending. 7+
Appearance poured clear amber . Lighter tanned fine top. Ring on glass, sparse lace. 3+
Flavor and Palate : smooth front with quiet bitter green hop feel. This one is quiet hoppy even for an IPA. Alcoholic heat n top. Great base but beer felt as was not most coherent. All parts did not talked to each other.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 lisagirl (151) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 21, 2013
absolutey frickin brilliant...similar to the fresh version, got a lot of tangelo flavour but this seemed even sharper than that one. don’t have many more comments to add to the other except that this is better.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 lefossoyeur (367) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 19, 2013
Copper blonde with a thick fluffy off-white head. Beautiful! Fruity aromas of grape, kiwi and pepper. Light to medium body, low carbonation, loads of fruits on the palate including grapes and a strong blackberry and peppery profile that ends on a kiwi fruit long finish. Medium bitterness, never obtrusive, all the floor is laid for the fruity hops to shine. Very nice IPA!

Superb antipodean IPA. Great showcase of what can be done with New Zealand sourced ingredients (and European sourced brewer)! Look out for the seasonal ’fresh hopped’ version too - yum!
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 JEK69 (360) - FRANCE - MAY 13, 2013
On tap @CBC13 2013,
hazy orange/amber with an average white foam head.
Pine, citrus, malt. Lactose notes and maerican oak ...
Something strange ... maybe the brewer served me a blend or maybe I was too druk to appreciate it.
But guess what ... I loved it actually.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 fletchfighters (821) - AUSTRALIA - MAY 13, 2013
500 ml bottle into a tulip
Clear orange color. One finger white head, Excellent retention and lacing, Thick soapy lacing left behind.
Nose is a combination of pine, dank citrus, and some dank tropical fruits. Vibrant and fresh nose but quite dank and dirty smelling. Good caramel backbone nose to go with this.
Pine, grapefruit and once again a dirty/dank tropical fruit and orange taste. Would swear there is simcoe by the dankness but it is not.
Bold and brash feel to this. Heavy but enough carbonation to lift this. Not as much oil or resin as compared to US IPA’s but works well as the pure dirtyness and body is quite nice.
Really need to buy more of this stuff.
3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 bunget (319) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 10, 2013
500ml bottle. A clear orange body, medium beige head with excellent retention and beautiful lacing. Aroma of caramel, grapefruit, very floral, pine, orange and a touch of spices. Tastes light and watery upfront, with an increasingly bitter hop wave, caramel, orange, herbs, fruity and a little chewy.
