We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet you’ll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

Big, bold fruity nose. Perfect intensity for me. Passionfruit, boysenberry dominate. Copper coloured with dense off-white lasting head. Lacing. Let down by a slight chill haze. Alcohol, bitterness, and sweetness all in balance and spot on for the style. Good body, lively carbonation cleanses the palate. Bitter finish that fades gracefully away. Overall I would say this is a wonderful showcase of NZ hops, a lesson on restrained boldness and balance. Søren: guard this recipe closely. 500mL bottle exp. 15/8/10

On the nose is a beautiful hop presence with malts disguised until deeper thought. The beer pours a rich amber with minimal white head. The first taste is as bitter as you want an IPA with a sweet finish, overall a medium to heavy IBU. On the palate comes an enriched hoppy presence with average carbonation, notes of toffee, passion fruit and i think i’m getting blood orange? Fantastic beer and one of my all time favourites! Loved all the craft coming out of NZ even if they are the worst neighbours ;) good stuff guys.

From bottle in Tulip glass. Pours amber with lively CO2. Piney and fruitiy hops on the nose. Forward bitterness that carries through to the palate. Awesome.

Keg at Brewdog Brum. It certainly has all the fruits going on. Plus the sherbetty pzzazz of an electric sweet shop. Great IPA. Wanted more of this.

Draught at Mikkeller Bangkok. I have had this many times both bottled and draught, in both New Zealand and Australia. The last time I had this was a very poor, aged keg version. Expensive and disappointing. However, Mikkeller Bangkok has received this very fresh. It pours a hazy Amber-orange with a small white head. The aroma has pungent tropical fruit (passionfruit and mango) with some caramel. The flavour is resinous, with a juicy tropical character, a strong bitterness. Such a lovely IPA.

Lukter mye. Litt tungt utseende. Ok smak, ikke noe utpreget IPA. Tung i munn. Totalkarakter er 2 minus

Some piney fruitiness on the nose. Take a sip and get hit with citrus. Understated malt. Good long finish

On tap @ Csakajósör - A bit hazy light amber colour with a long lasting off-white head. A lot of citrussy and tropical hop aromas. Simple but balanced malty taste in the background. An explosion of New Zealand hops: Passion fruit, peach, grapes, interesting and complex hoppiness. Medium carbonation, long dry finish, leaves bittersweet fruitiness in the mouth. Excellent IPA.
