3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Black like stout should be. Nice aroma of roasted malts, really pleasant. Bitterness is well balanced by roasted malts and hops. Not so intense as Angels share from Lost abbey, that I had before.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black pour with a thin tan head. Heavily roasted malts on the nose with notes of coffee and cocoa. Flavor is similar with the roasty character dominating the palate. Finish is slightly bitter but it seems more bitter from the dark roasted malts than hop bitterness to me. Pretty good, although a bit drier than I was expecting.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pitch black pour with very thin tan head. Roasted smell, not much hops. Nice palate with rich feel but good carbonation so doesn't feel slick or oily like some other high abv imperial stouts. Deep roasted and malty flavor with a bit of bitterness. Hides the high abv.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Great looking beer: pitch black with thin tan head. Aroma of big roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, smoke, leather. Taste is bitter, coffee, roasted without being too burnt. Palate is nice and crisp - a lot of flavour without being syrupy or too thick or creamy, with lively small carbonation. If this had more bitterness I can imagine it being a black IPA. Big, rich and dark with a nice dry sharpness.

On tap at the fork & Brewer (Wellington).
Pour was opaque blaak with a durable tan head; very good lacing.
Aroma: Slightly boozy; oak; dark roasted grains
Flavor: a tad sweet; excellent barrel-aging effect; no burnt grain; semi-sweet chocolate.
Feel: full body; soft, well-set carbonation.
O: a very good RIS.
