Beware, this is a BIG beer. Brimming with luscious roasted coffee and chocolate malt flavours which are balanced by a brisk bitterness and bold freshness from the hops. If you’re feeling politically incorrect try it with your favourite cigar, or a dram of your best single malt whisky. Or, if your tooth is sweeter, why not jump in at the deep end with the most decadent dessert of all; half a bottle in a glass with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream on top (beer geeks like us know it as the Imperial Stout Float). Or simply enjoy it on its own as a decadent dessert or night cap - the perfect winter warmer! If you don’t already know the history of Russian Imperial Stouts please check it out on the internet, it’s a good story. But remember, although based on that century-old classic style, this beer is a very modern interpretation, like all our beers!

A dark brown to black beer with a small light brown head, it quickly disapears. The nose is roasted malts, coffee, light sweet and has a light pepery touch. It is a medium to full bodied beer, with little carbonation. The taste is soft, coffee, roasted malts, light sweet, chocolate and pepery in the back. Aftertaste is coffee, medium and not very long. Overall it is a light and soft stout, you dont taste the alcohol. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

An imperial stout who successfully fit in the category. Dark almost black beer in color, small brown head, with regular retention. The aroma has some increase yeast notes like cheese, there are some coffee notes, and a slight floral notes but they are not too strong. When is tasted it has a full body, medium sourness, very bitter, and the malt flavors itself are lost. Giving you a very alcoholic and bitter ending.

The head dissolved quickly then left spotty lacing. Dark fruits, roasty grain, carob, some woody & leafy hops up front. Charred grain bitterness and a touch of cocoa, plus leafy hops. Finishes with charred grain, carob, figs & a bit of the ABV bite.

The beer pours a solid black colour with a 1" foamy brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, bitter coffee, dark chocolate, and anise. Mouthfeel is creamy, full bodied and average carbonation. The flavour is dark bitter chocolate.

Glorious impy stout that shouldn’t be drunk on such a glorious sunny day as today. Even though scorching outside this is a glorious impy stout. In contrast to my other favourites in this genre this is more delicate and should I say it thin because it lacks that rich sugary impy goodness than most have, though it does however make up for it in how balanced this beer is. So balanced this could be my new summer beer! Given the temp outside the icecream floater may have been a great option!

Sehr gut!

Bottle from Asahiya, shared by my buddy David at a dark beer tasting. A dark black pour with a touch of brown around the edges. A sweet chocolatey syrupy sweet pour. Full bodied, roasty bitter chocolate. Quite a good stout. A roasty bitter wine like taste

500ml bottle shared @ BrewDog. Very dark brown, not much head. Treacle alcohol aroma. Fruity alcohol flavour. Strong treacle alcohol aftertaste. Not my sort of beer.
