COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beware, this is a BIG beer. Brimming with luscious roasted coffee and chocolate malt flavours which are balanced by a brisk bitterness and bold freshness from the hops. If you’re feeling politically incorrect try it with your favourite cigar, or a dram of your best single malt whisky. Or, if your tooth is sweeter, why not jump in at the deep end with the most decadent dessert of all; half a bottle in a glass with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream on top (beer geeks like us know it as the Imperial Stout Float). Or simply enjoy it on its own as a decadent dessert or night cap - the perfect winter warmer! If you don’t already know the history of Russian Imperial Stouts please check it out on the internet, it’s a good story. But remember, although based on that century-old classic style, this beer is a very modern interpretation, like all our beers!

500mL bottle in a duvel glass. Pours black and has the consistency of motor oil with a big brown head. I get the coffee on the nose as well a an almost creamy chocolate note and i can slightly detect a chinook or magnum aroma? This one is definantly a sipper has a huge flavour to it with so much going on. I get that roasted coffee flavour as well as slight chocolate and a slight spicey backround but its mingles together so well. Genereally i find most RIS have a huge roasted coffee note that overpowers but the coffee flavour in this beer doesn’t dominate it compliments. A must try beer.

Aroma: dark chocolate, cacao powder, filter coffee, intense, rich, toasted, dark malts. Appearance: black, medium, frothy, beige head. Taste: light sweet. Palate: dry sweets continue, cacao, chocolate, light bitters coming up. Overall: fantastic Imperial Stout, doesn’t feel too heavy nor can you taste the ABV. Bottle from 21 Wines, Brighton.

Keg at Brewdog Brum. Perilously drinkable. Smooth, like a fur lined ashtray. Beautiful coffee, gorgeously humming hop underlay. Super good.

Black ink body, small brown head. Waho. Crazy aroma. Fresh floral hops are figthing with roasted coffee. Then chocolate, dark fruits and light vanilla notes kicks in. Taste as great. First caramel liquorice with plum. Then fresh hops and rosted coffee. Warm liquorice comes back with chocolate and it takes you to a super long caramel, chocolate finish which evolve with the liquorice to bring bitterness and dryness from hops. Crazy beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tasting at Svijet piva, Zagreb. Black, very small beige head, leaves a trace on the glass. Fruits, strawberry, bread-like, cherry, too. Sweet, thick, soft with strong chocolate finish. Liked it very much.

On tap at Foresters. Jet black, fine thin head. Boozy and rich, with espresso, dark chocolate nibs, salted caramel. Slick and slightly oily. A great drop, but I wasn’t exactly in the mood for it, and it made my head spin! (in a good way)

500 ml bottle. Clear dark brown, almost black body with a huge, lacing, long lasting beige head. Looks perfect in the glass. Really nice aroma of dark malt, coffee, dark chocolate and traces of vanilla. Flavor is sweet, roasted, dark malt, dark chocolate, mocha, fruity, pine, hint of leather and rather bitter. Full bodied and nice, long lasting aftertaste. A really nice Imp. stout – pure joy all the way.

Pours an average frothy light brown head that slowly diminishes. Body is coffee black. Aroma contains moderate malts (caramel, coffee, chocolate, cookie, hay, roasted and toasted malts, nuts), moderate hops (flowers, spruce, lime, orange), light yeasts (dough, leather, mold) and grape, raisin, plum, forest fruits, raspberry, cassis, alcohol and cola. Flavor is light acidic, then light acidic and sweet, followed by sweet, sweet and light bitter and finishing in light bitter. Body is full with syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Woa! Indeed a big beer. Flavorful, subtle, complex. Really good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
