3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
viscous and black as the inside of a malayan tapir. cool creamy tan head with bubbles that sink. serious pipe tobacco and leather armchair sort of aroma (willamette in there) with a fair bit of hop presence. lovely rich and malty body with some fruity new world hop flavours and toasty charcoal. bitter and hoppy. intense and rich stuff, with care taken to layer the flavours - very nice. a bit too much grapefruit from the hops for my liking - not a fan of grapefruit in my stouts - i know im in a minority there.

22 Oz bottle brought to a tasting. Thanks Dad! Pours black with a fading tan head. Mild boozy aroma. Flavor is nice chocolate fronted, with a mild roasted malt background. Cool chocolate finish. Unique stout, and very tasty. Very nice to finally try this.

Bottle thanks to Andrew (and Andrew’s dad). Near black pour, thin ring of khaki bubbles. Aroma: roast, chocolate, nutty. Reasonably smooth, well-balanced chocolate and coffee that is sweet (but not too) with light bitter finish. Light caramel sweetness with a good balance. Quite nice.

Look: pours a dark black. Dark brown head. Can't see through it easily.
Smell: huge chocolate. Nice barrel aromas. Vanilla.
Taste: heavy roasted malt. Very smokey. Chocolate powder.
Feel: slightly dry from hops but still sweet from the malt.
Overall: good beer. Aroma and taste diner match up in the beginning but blend nicely after palate adjusts.

Fabulous imperial stout. Coffee, chocolate, liquorice all the way through. Looks nice, tastes nice - and at 10% is very alcoholic.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a midnight black, about a finger or a half of khaki head that dies down but is rather clingy on the edges. Nose is really roasty, malty, caramel, toffee, sugary touch of hop character. Tastes sweet, roasted malt, cold coffee bitter, dark chocolate, hop is there.

My second bottle, aged about 6 mths. Pours black with a tan head. Nose is milk chocolate, vanilla, coffee. Taste is very burnt malts, chocolate cocoa, coffee. Pretty in your face but I dig that.
