Beware, this is a BIG beer. Brimming with luscious roasted coffee and chocolate malt flavours which are balanced by a brisk bitterness and bold freshness from the hops. If you’re feeling politically incorrect try it with your favourite cigar, or a dram of your best single malt whisky. Or, if your tooth is sweeter, why not jump in at the deep end with the most decadent dessert of all; half a bottle in a glass with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream on top (beer geeks like us know it as the Imperial Stout Float). Or simply enjoy it on its own as a decadent dessert or night cap - the perfect winter warmer! If you don’t already know the history of Russian Imperial Stouts please check it out on the internet, it’s a good story. But remember, although based on that century-old classic style, this beer is a very modern interpretation, like all our beers!

viscous and black as the inside of a malayan tapir. cool creamy tan head with bubbles that sink. serious pipe tobacco and leather armchair sort of aroma (willamette in there) with a fair bit of hop presence. lovely rich and malty body with some fruity new world hop flavours and toasty charcoal. bitter and hoppy. intense and rich stuff, with care taken to layer the flavours - very nice. a bit too much grapefruit from the hops for my liking - not a fan of grapefruit in my stouts - i know im in a minority there.

Dark cola brown, minimal dark khaki head. Smells of roasted hop, chocolate, dark roast coffee, anise. Taste is a generously roasty hop bitter with lots of dark chocolate, coffee grounds, anise, a touch vanilla. Big bold stout with great roastiness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a stout black with one finger of tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate, sweet. Taste of chocolate and hoppiness. Slight bitterness. The aroma seems pretty strong it keeps going up my nose when I drink it.

Huge burnt coffee and chocolate nose, big flavours quite hoppy and bitter but rich and sweet and malty at the same time, great balance good carbonation and the %10 abv works well to thicken it out.

Appearance is jet black, with a half-finger fluffy light brown/tan head. Leaves a muddy film around the glass. Aroma- rich chocolate, brownies, espresso coffee, vanilla fudge, lots of roast malt, liquorice undertones, leather. Taste- loads of dark, roast malt, black coffee, dark, bitter chocolate, burnt treacle, chocolate biscuit, hints of vanilla and dark fruit towards the finish. As it warms up more leathery and tobacco smoke characteristics emerge. Mouthfeel is clingy and a bit fudgy, with a very lengthy and satisfying finish. Excellent stuff.

Bravo ! Quelle bière ! Bien amère, longue en bouche , moelleuse a souhait , avec de fine bulle qui caresse le palais avec l alcool qui souligne le tout . Une grande bière !

Keg at IMBC. Dark brown. Aromas of dark roast, sweet chocolate. Tastes dryish roast, gentle coffee an cocoa. Very good stout but lacks some elements to stand out more. Or then I just had too good stuff that night.

Pours black with a quickly fleeting, thin caramel head. Aromas of coffee, burnt toast, vanilla, butter, and a bit of smoke. Alcohol aroma comes out as it warms. Palate is oily with a fine, muted carbonation. Good body. Taste of bitter chocolate and salted caramel. Bitter, slightly sticky syrup finish. Dumb name, good stout.

Very rich with Soy sauce, Hershey’s Chocolate syrup & prunes. Black as a cloudy night on an eclipse, I had to turn on a few more lights after I opened this beer, it sucked the light out of the room. Head? I don’t think so, a few reddish brown bubbles in a tar pit of blackness. Thick & chewy, a liquified decadent dessert, death by chocolate with a splash of Brandy, pretty damned amazing! IStout? Ay caramba! Rich, luscious, innovative, it leaves me at a loss for words. I’m in love......
