COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beware, this is a BIG beer. Brimming with luscious roasted coffee and chocolate malt flavours which are balanced by a brisk bitterness and bold freshness from the hops. If youíre feeling politically incorrect try it with your favourite cigar, or a dram of your best single malt whisky. Or, if your tooth is sweeter, why not jump in at the deep end with the most decadent dessert of all; half a bottle in a glass with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream on top (beer geeks like us know it as the Imperial Stout Float). Or simply enjoy it on its own as a decadent dessert or night cap - the perfect winter warmer! If you donít already know the history of Russian Imperial Stouts please check it out on the internet, itís a good story. But remember, although based on that century-old classic style, this beer is a very modern interpretation, like all our beers!

Aroma is sweet chocolate malt and a little booziness. Not detecting much for hops Pours a pitch black with a minuscule light brown head that disappeared quite quickly with little lacing. Taste is big chocolate malt up front, followed by some bitter coffee, making way for a nice dose of hop bitterness and a bit of boozy burn on thaw aftertaste. Medium bodied, good drinkability. Overall a nicely done imperial. Would definitely try again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from eDrinks (Ä 4.58). BB unreadable, again! Pours dark brown with creamy mocha head that drops to form a ring and a film. The aroma is thick, sweet, dark roast, fudgey, chocolaty. Tastes sweet with slightly herbal bitter finish. A bit harsh but otherwise lovely, the 10.0% is rather well disguised. Not among the most enjoyable of Impies but alright. Canít really push up the score in any category...

Bottle. Black beer, small off-white head. Nose is chocolate, soy, roast, coffee. Flavor is coffee, roast, citric hops, bitterness, touch of soy. Wood and smoke notes in the finish, citric hops, licorice, roasty acidity. Lingering roast plus citurs from the hops. Oily mouthfeel. Big and heavy beer, heavyness is nicely offset by the hops.

Wow, big beer! Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma isnít as strong as I thought it would be, but has coffee and malty notes. Love the taste, big bold malty and coffee flavour with nicely balanced bitterness. Wouldnít think youíre drinking a 10%ish beer. Clean finish with low carbonation. Would happily have more!

Bottle from the Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Pours pitch black with a nice thick foamy head. Light liquorice aroma. The taste is rich liquorice and a little coffee. A bit of a liquorice bomb. Big bitter finish. Superb oily mouthfeel. Very good indeed.

Dark brown, almost black colour. Very thin line of beige froth around the glass. Chocolate, hints of toffee, hints of cognac in the aroma. Caramel at first. Hints of berries. Toffee. Cognacy notes. Hints of peat. Chocolaty notes. Slight cocoa in the aftertaste. Nicely bakanced, nice palate. Good imperial stout.

Bottle from We Brought Beer. Superb stout. Very very smooth mouthfeel. Perfect rich roast meets hop balance, and a nice mellow boozy sweetness at the back. Absolutely top drawer.

willisread (2212) - Tokyo, JAPAN - MAY 1, 2016
Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of tan foam that dissipates fairly quickly. Treacle aromas stand out with loads of bakers chocolate. Soy sauce on the palate, with more cacao and umami. Umami bomb, fairly one-dimensional impy. Just not good enough to be world class. Nice first try at an imperial stout though.
