Beware, this is a BIG beer. Brimming with luscious roasted coffee and chocolate malt flavours which are balanced by a brisk bitterness and bold freshness from the hops. If you’re feeling politically incorrect try it with your favourite cigar, or a dram of your best single malt whisky. Or, if your tooth is sweeter, why not jump in at the deep end with the most decadent dessert of all; half a bottle in a glass with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream on top (beer geeks like us know it as the Imperial Stout Float). Or simply enjoy it on its own as a decadent dessert or night cap - the perfect winter warmer! If you don’t already know the history of Russian Imperial Stouts please check it out on the internet, it’s a good story. But remember, although based on that century-old classic style, this beer is a very modern interpretation, like all our beers!

Shared with Hrabren, Habek and Anja T. I guess. Poured a black body with a brown-tan-gray head. Fresh creamy aroma, heaps of raisins, liiiight alcohol. Very nice taste, slightly milder than expected, raisins, vague coffee, sweetish, creamy, Nescafé 3 in 1 sorta tast, light herbal notes. Not too heavy, not too light. Didn’t thrill me for some reason, dunno why, though it’s definitely a nice beer.

Oily pitch black with no head to speak of. Aroma of dark coffee, chocolate, burnt malt. Minimal carbonation, slightly creamy mouth feel with significant long-lasting bitter aftertaste and alcohol warmth. Sweet on the tip of the tongue, with strong coffee and dark chocolate complimented by a definite hoppiness, more hops than your average stout. A very intense beer, to be savoured, and at 10% not to be taken lightly!

Dark oily brown colour with almost no head. Aroma of roasted barley malts, tobacco, little coffee notes. Flavours are the same, with sweet malty notes, alcoholic-coffe finish. Very good, but maybe I expected a little more.

22 Oz bottle brought to a tasting. Thanks Dad! Pours black with a fading tan head. Mild boozy aroma. Flavor is nice chocolate fronted, with a mild roasted malt background. Cool chocolate finish. Unique stout, and very tasty. Very nice to finally try this.

Bottle thanks to Andrew (and Andrew’s dad). Near black pour, thin ring of khaki bubbles. Aroma: roast, chocolate, nutty. Reasonably smooth, well-balanced chocolate and coffee that is sweet (but not too) with light bitter finish. Light caramel sweetness with a good balance. Quite nice.

Look: pours a dark black. Dark brown head. Can't see through it easily. Smell: huge chocolate. Nice barrel aromas. Vanilla. Fudge. Taste: heavy roasted malt. Very smokey. Chocolate powder. Feel: slightly dry from hops but still sweet from the malt. Overall: good beer. Aroma and taste diner match up in the beginning but blend nicely after palate adjusts.
