4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Archive. Rating from 2013. Great stout from across the ditch with everything that a great stout should have, Burnt malt, bitterness and deep black colour.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The head is good, the body black. It smells darkmalty, great-hoppy, aromatic. The taste is darkmalty, delicious, aromatic, roasty, balaned, bit hoppy, more bitter. Great. 13/12/13/13/-/13

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Probably the most standard and boring of the 8 wired beers I have tried. It neither pushes the boundaries of the style or blows me away. It needed to pack a bit more punch.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft. Blackish beer with a cream head. Light malt and light grapefruit aroma. Grapefruit and light pine flavor with light coffee. Medium bodied. Grapefruit and light pine linger with light coffee.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Unusually ’usual’ for an 8 Wired brew but a nice drop nonetheless. Makes a nice lead-in to their outstanding imperial version of the style.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Lovely coffee flavour comes though this delicious dark malty stout. A little hoppy, remniscent of the Funk Estate Black IPA or the Garage Project Aro Noir but doesn’t quite go that far hop-wise.
A dark beer but not heavy in any way (looking at you, Guinness!), very enjoyable experience from one of my favourite breweries.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tasted from tap at Pomeroy’s and appeared clear deep mahogany but not as dark and impenetrable as most stouts. The aroma verged toward toffee and chocolate with some roasty caramel. It was a little hampered by being served too cold. The flavours reflected the initial impressions of the aromas but didn’t have the nice chewy richness of the kind of stouts that I enjoy. In fact, it runs against the grain of things to criticise an 8 Wired beer, but as a stout it was alright but not impressive. I expected more and didn’t receive it.
