COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
”Poor old misunderstood brown ale... This is perhaps the most versatile style of beer in the world, yet it is often frowned upon, but why? Is it because the word BROWN doesn’t cling right, perhaps it leads the mind towards less appetizing things? Is it because the colour BROWN is less snazzy than, say ’golden’?? Or is it because the duopoly of NZ brewing have driven the BROWN style into oblivion by claiming the style for their most unattractive products??? We’ll let you think about that while you sip this beer, either in the sun on the beach or in front of the barbie, with your afternoon steak and cheese pie, with your Sunday roast or just by itself because you are thirsty and deserve a treat! Chances are this is unlike any Brown Ale you have ever tasted, it is malty, hoppy and flavourful. Some might say it is Brown Ale re-defined, we’d say it’s REWIRED. Cheers!”

On tap at Iron Abbey. Murky brown thin head. Musty nose but slight band aid aroma. Distracting. Flavor also off. Not something I’d go for again.

500mL bottle, pours a deep dark amber-tinged brown with a medium tan head. Aroma toasted nuts and a little roast - almost seems a bit oxidized. Flavour brings out very pleasant toasted nuts, a touch of roast and a touch of dry caramel malt. Quite dry and nutty, while remaining quite flavourful for a brown ale. Very drinkable stuff, but ultimately very boring.

At glass, it has a great look, with its dark color and good consistent beige head. Good carbonation. Aroma has a perfect balance of malt with hints of caramel, toast, coffee and chocolate. Taste is equally intense, dominated by malt and a long, with dry hop notes finish.

Nice aroma, roasty, red, brown colour, clear, good head. Taste quite heavy, medium bitterness, full body, creamy, average carbonation, long finish. Great brown ale.

Appearance: Clear dark ruby/brown with ivory cm thick head. Aroma: Grapefruit, apricot, pear, chocolate note, raisin/dried fig, toast and grassy. Taste: Low sweetness, low/medium bitterness and sourness. Palate: Thick rough texture, light body, average carbonation, astringent, lingering malty fruity finish. Comments: Very tasty and left a glass lace.

The head is good, the body is red-dark brown. It smells darkmalty, hopintensive-bitter, malty-roasty, aromatic, bit bitter. The taste is bitter, roasty, coffee-bitter, hoparomaitc. Overall good but the bitterness takes a bit of the drinkableity.. 3.6
