3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Found this to be a heavy beer on the palate - like having too many pies. Driven by roasted malt this is a beer that lingers, but lacks vibrancy and freshness, hence the average overall. Just not a style that does much for me.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Brown body and large head. Biscuity, woody but mostly toasty malts, with a soft yet present hop backup. Toasty yeast even. Good selection of ingredients, however, it doesn’t do much for me personally. Taste is medium bitter, foamy mouth feel, not exciting. A bit disappointed. It certainly not cheap (here). (50cl bottle brought by Bertanne from De Molen)

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On keg at the Bow Bar.
Appearance - cloudy brown with an orange chink towards the bottom of the glass.
Nose - very elusive but some nuts and toffee.
Taste - toffee and apples. Then tangy orange.
Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish.
Overall - good Palate but the rest didn’t really add up. It did grow on me though.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. New Zealand holiday 2011-12. Old notes. The aroma has bread, caramel, roast and is a bit weak. Clear, dark ruby brown coloured beer with an off-white, beige, medium head. The taste has a light hoppy bitterness and smooth toasted malts.

3.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cerveja amarga com um aroma adocicado, deixando aquele sabor amargo no final. Perfeita para acompanhar um queijo no fim do dia.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg - Hashigo Zake, Wellington. Poured with a fine but lasting and lacing off-white head above a clear copper brown coloured body. Distinct spice and herbal characters notably of clove, particularly on the palate, coupled with robust choccy malts and a dry, zesty citric hop profile. Firm mouthfeel, medium body and crisp carbonation with an enduring bitterness and herbal linger. Not a traditional brown ale as such but one with intriguing bittersweet interplay and herbal interest.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
An excellent complement to just about any beer drinking situation. Full bodied and well balanced this brew makes a nice change from the regular hoppy IPAs that are standard fare today.

Draught at BrewDog Shepherd Bush on 1 February 2014. Poured a hazy, dark chestnut colour with a dense, beige head and excellent lacing. Malty aroma with some chocolate and vanilla. Initial flavours of sweet brown sugar and milk chocolate mixed with bitter hops and grass. Finish was hop resin, burnt malt and dry grain.
