Pours very dark brown; almost black.thin off-white head. Smells of dried fruit and caramel. Notes of chocolate and coffee. Taste is dry, bitter coffee on a core of dark malts.
Medium-bodied. Good brew.

Bottle. Terrific brown base with a hearty, white cap that vanishes super quick. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel, wood, nuts, and a hoppy bitterness. Taste is much the same, but instead of a malt-forward aroma, taste boasts the dry wood, hop, nut character. Still has a great malt balance. I dig this.

Pours a dark brown with nice creamy off white head that goes flat quickly. Aromas of caramel and smoked malts. Nice full robust soft mouthfeel. Caramel malt follows through in the mouth, with lovely long lingering aftertaste. Loved this.

Draught at Brewdog Edinburgh. Red/brown color, white head. Bitter taste with grapefruit, caramel, hops, nuts and a bit of roasted malts. Bitter finish with grapefruit and pine. Very nice brown ale, although the aromas rather resemble IPA / pale ale.

Bottle, shared at Three Boars. Bold malts, bold citrus hops combine to make this a full-flavoured brown inthe same spirit as DH Indian Brown. I love the versatility of this style, and I’d have a hard time stating my preference between the bitter/hoppy vs the sweet/fruity/nutty beers in this category-- I just like when they don’t skimp on the ingredients. Yum!

Hmm. The slight hoppiness is interesting. Always thought browns needed something. Wish it were a tad bit more thick.

Pours a dark hazy brown with an amber tinge and a nice creamy off white head. Nose is some caramel smoked malts with a tinge of espresso. Nice thick mouthfeel. Caramel malt follows through, lightly hopped, long slightly bitter aftertaste.

500 ml bottle. Pours a dark red.brown with medium head. Aromas of roasted malts and spice. Flavors are similar but stronger with the addition of licorice, resin, vegetables, and funky hops. Tasty for the ABV.

On tap @CBC13. Aroma of toffee, burnt sugar, citrusy and grassy hops and some caramel. Taste is toffee, grassy hops, roasted malt and coffee that finishes with a powerful bitter hop punch.
