”Poor old misunderstood brown ale... This is perhaps the most versatile style of beer in the world, yet it is often frowned upon, but why? Is it because the word BROWN doesn’t cling right, perhaps it leads the mind towards less appetizing things? Is it because the colour BROWN is less snazzy than, say ’golden’?? Or is it because the duopoly of NZ brewing have driven the BROWN style into oblivion by claiming the style for their most unattractive products??? We’ll let you think about that while you sip this beer, either in the sun on the beach or in front of the barbie, with your afternoon steak and cheese pie, with your Sunday roast or just by itself because you are thirsty and deserve a treat! Chances are this is unlike any Brown Ale you have ever tasted, it is malty, hoppy and flavourful. Some might say it is Brown Ale re-defined, we’d say it’s REWIRED. Cheers!”

@ Mikkeller Bar Stockholm: en helt vanlig trevlig brown ale med svara karamell och rostade toner. Fin men ganska ordinär. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone ---- Soberness not garanteed!

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2015 Floral hoppy nose, some caramel to it. Taste is very balanced and quite nice, sprucy hops, very biscuity, and some cafe touch to it, kinda creamy mouthfeel but very easygoing still, quite hoppy.

10 bucks at CBB. 5.7% 500 ml bottle, a crystal clear ruby brown - a good looking beer. The nose is musty citrusy floral/herbal hops. The beer is medium bodied & smooth. With a zesty carbonation. The taste is a good mix of citrusy fruity hops & nutty darkish malts. A great brown ale.

Smell of chocolate. Dark brown colour, light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, hops. Some chocolate. Medium sweet, medium bitter. Quite nice, but very nonsurprising. Mid-flat carbon.

Bottle. Pours a dark brwon colour with a mid size white head, malty aroma with some caramel, the taste is light and malty with a right amount of roast with a dry finish.

Found this to be a heavy beer on the palate - like having too many pies. Driven by roasted malt this is a beer that lingers, but lacks vibrancy and freshness, hence the average overall. Just not a style that does much for me.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein dunkel rötlichbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig, dunkle reife Früchte, Karamell. Geschmack röstmalzig, Karamell, dunkle Früchte.

Brown body and large head. Biscuity, woody but mostly toasty malts, with a soft yet present hop backup. Toasty yeast even. Good selection of ingredients, however, it doesn’t do much for me personally. Taste is medium bitter, foamy mouth feel, not exciting. A bit disappointed. It certainly not cheap (here). (50cl bottle brought by Bertanne from De Molen)

On keg at the Bow Bar. Appearance - cloudy brown with an orange chink towards the bottom of the glass. Nose - very elusive but some nuts and toffee. Taste - toffee and apples. Then tangy orange. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - good Palate but the rest didn’t really add up. It did grow on me though.

Bottled. New Zealand holiday 2011-12. Old notes. The aroma has bread, caramel, roast and is a bit weak. Clear, dark ruby brown coloured beer with an off-white, beige, medium head. The taste has a light hoppy bitterness and smooth toasted malts.
