COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
”Poor old misunderstood brown ale... This is perhaps the most versatile style of beer in the world, yet it is often frowned upon, but why? Is it because the word BROWN doesn’t cling right, perhaps it leads the mind towards less appetizing things? Is it because the colour BROWN is less snazzy than, say ’golden’?? Or is it because the duopoly of NZ brewing have driven the BROWN style into oblivion by claiming the style for their most unattractive products??? We’ll let you think about that while you sip this beer, either in the sun on the beach or in front of the barbie, with your afternoon steak and cheese pie, with your Sunday roast or just by itself because you are thirsty and deserve a treat! Chances are this is unlike any Brown Ale you have ever tasted, it is malty, hoppy and flavourful. Some might say it is Brown Ale re-defined, we’d say it’s REWIRED. Cheers!”

Copper to brown colour with a lasting off-white head. Toasted and nutty malt aroma with a touch of prunes. Very fruity flavour with grassy hops, caramel and a nice, bitter finish. Strangely oily mouthfeel

Bottle shared with Joes, Countbeer and DutchDrebus. Brown colored with a beige head. Just not enough grapefruit-smell for me. Also the taste is nice but just not getting there.

500mL bottle, pours a deep dark amber-tinged brown with a medium tan head. Aroma toasted nuts and a little roast - almost seems a bit oxidized. Flavour brings out very pleasant toasted nuts, a touch of roast and a touch of dry caramel malt. Quite dry and nutty, while remaining quite flavourful for a brown ale. Very drinkable stuff, but ultimately very boring.

Bottle, bought @ Havnens Vin & Tobak, Vejle.
Nice ruby red to chestnut colur with a big, staying, creamy, off-white head. Aroma is mild nutty, caramel, slightly roasted, a hint of chocolate and some good fresh hoppiness with pine and apricot. Medium carbonation, fine creamy and good dry mouthfeel. Flavour has good nuttiness, fine dryish milky chocolate, a hint of coffee. Good hoppy dryness in the lingering finish. Good brown ale.

from Erzbierschof - clear dark brown beer with a little foam left; aroma of coffee and earth; medium-bodied, light earthy bitterness, notes of cookie; pretty dry and coffeish; light metallic notes

Bottle at CP&K thanks to madmitch76. It pours a mahogany colour with low/moderate carbonation and a thin beige head. The nose is full of dark fruits; raisins, dates, prunes and roasted malt. The taste is caramel, smokey, slightly citrus, burnt sugar, liquorice, oak and has light bitter finish. It’s not bad, but not overly exciting.

Sample at the Badge-Whore Bowl (OSU vs AL) tasting on 01/01/2015. Dark brown color with a thin foamy beige head that evaporates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of malt, caramel and earthy hops. Light to medium body with flavors of toasted malt, sweet caramel and mild hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Superb brown, exceeding expectations. Bottle from Premiere. De Konnick glass that poured dark brown with off-white retained one-eighth head, and tons of spider lace. Malty aroma. Way bove average mouthfeel that delivers great bitterness with solid roasted malt backbone. Residual lemony aftertaste. Appropriate carbonation. masterful.
